DIRT Rally - CUSTOM LIVERIES, MODS & TOOLS, DISCUSSION ETC.

Recommended Posts

I'm sure i saw someone put up an updated rev counter/HUD display ages ago, i wanted to try and find it again to see if the boost pressure gauge was edited to show PSI.  Can anyone find it?

Alternatively, any idea as to how hard it would be to change the graphics for the boost gauge to show PSI instead/as well?
I remember that Hoonhead made an alternative counter check his web www.rallygamer.com

That was the one, thank you.

Very useful section here for some peoples recent livery questions too: http://www.rallygamer.com/dirtrally/tools/texture-design-tools.html

This is the updated gauge replacement, though it seems far less updated than i remember, but, more specifically, doesn't contain the PSI edits to the vacuum gauge :(   http://www.rallygamer.com/dirtrally/mods/on-screen-display-mod.html
It does specify the file modified, i'm wondering if anyone here has the tools/skills to add PSI or replace Bar with PSI on the gauge?

all you want is to replace the "BAR" text with "PSI"?

the gauge shows -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 BAR, do the conversion for each position and ill make one for you

Thank you so much :)  Let me know if the below doesn't make sense and i'll try and re-word it.

-15 - Make this a tiny amount below/before the -1 bar position (because it's -14.5 PSI)
0 - 0
15 - Make this a tiny amount above/after the 1 bar position (because it's 14.5 PSI)
30 - Make this a tiny amount above/after the 2 bar position (because it's 29 PSI)
45 - Make this a tiny amount above/after the 2 bar position (because it's 46.5 PSI)
60 - Make this a tiny amount above/after the 2 bar position (because it's 58 PSI)

That's great, thank you very much for doing that, i'm guessing it wasn't too hard for someone with your ability, but thank you all the same :)

Nice job, although I will stay stock (I do prefer the metric system  )
One thing i'm wondering about for the mods, is interior mods....it look that for some cars it wouldn't be hard for someone who knows its way around graphic to change some speedometer dials to metric one (the fulvia for example).

But I wonder if one day we would be able to modify some animation to either display speed in KM/h for cars with digital speedometer or to correct some speedometer animation errors that are in-game, such as for the stratos or the RS200 (or even that driver animation problem for shifting gear in the focus 2007...right now he's diddling himself when you change gears)

The static graphics could be edited, however, anything dynamic, such as a moving needle or digital readout is code and will not (so far as i know) be able to be edited.

i have plans to try to re texture one of the interiors to test what i can do to it, if i can make it look better or if can change other things, as for the driver animations you can swap the citroen c4 animations in to the focus it kinda works he holds the handbrake lower and his foot goes past the floor a little on the gas pedal, but it kinda looks like he actually shifts the gears (copy the file "int_c4r_anims.pssg" from DiRT Rally\cars\interiors\models\c4r and rename to "int_for_anims.pssg" and paste/replace on DiRT Rally\cars\interiors\models\fow, MAKE BACKUPS)

I've been wanting retextured dials too. I'm Americanese and can't fathom these silly metric mind games and their units of measurement. If you do the same like the boost gauge and just re-position the numbers then everything will match up. On that note, a Metric pack and an Imperial pack would be sweet so you could get them all in your preferred unit.

Erm, what part is metric?

is the new m-sport livery available somewhere???
It seems one user on here made one for themselves a few days ago, never linked it.  @mesa  (i think) has a current work in progress version.

I generally just stick to what's appropriate and adapt myself.
Having spent a lot of time in flight sims, it's always a challenge going from any Western aircraft which uses KIAS for speed and feet for altitude into any Russian aircraft which uses 100% metric of KM/H and Metres.
Thankfully both use Mach as well which at least makes high altitude cruising speeds easier to judge.

Basically saying I'm happy to use whatever the car modelled used, which tends to be the situation with the on-board speedos in the car interiors.

There's also the method of writing, the inches are most funny with their fraction of four to sixty-four ^^ Hell it's pain in the ass for eshops ;P

Yeah, i don't get the date order, i think it's something that comes from natural speaking, unfortunately when written, it's dumb.

At least the US is still pretty much 100% a single system, even if it is Imperial (I'd have thought the US would be super eager to have switched from the old British Empire system when given the chance, but there you have it).

The UK is an honest mix of both. People are only taught metric at school and it's how almost all food is sold now, but road signs, speed limits etc remain mostly Imperial.
That even extends to car speedometers, which display both, though the MPH numbers will always be larger.

The road signs part would require literally every single sign with any distance/speed on it being changed to metric, which would take a huge budget. Seeing as UK is more focused on fighting internet porn (good luck with that xD ) than updating obsolete highway speed limits, I'd say it's safe to assume that the change is if not fully, than at least partly due to budget issues. And naturally all the other issues related to this.

Yeah, sucks in the UK for that very reason, they were so desperate to be part of the EU, that they changed to some metric stuff, realised that people were ignoring it, and then enforced it by banning imperial in school and actually fining people for selling produce with imperial measures on them.

I'm not entirely certain why/how they thought it would all work with roads and signs etc being imperial and not able to change.
