Simple question, how do you save progress in F1 2019?

Simple question, but as I play the game, I find it difficult to save my progress as I go.

Example is say during P1, if I get once of my objectives completed, I want to save it and come back on another day, work on another objective with time remaining in P1...

I cant seem to find a way to save the game in random intervals, suggestions?

can you not just press start, during practice, and then save and exit?
