AI adjustments for 1.8

in the eSports announcement there are the patch notes for 1.8

one of them is: 

My Team: Adjusted performance of AI drivers across multiple routes and car classes, to provide a more balanced difficulty curve.

what does this mean, exactly? presumably it's a lot of things, but for instance is Poland no longer as brutal as it used to be? is the AI in H2 FWD no longer absolutely insane? does it apply to RX? the AI is very good on some of those tracks and not great on others.

also, what about unexpected events? they were great upon release, but then were adjusted to be extremely unlikely (unclear if this was deliberately or by accident). a couple months ago it was adjusted again and they became more likely, but personally I'd like them to happen a little more often 🙂

I personally think they should not happen more often than now.

I don't like the drones and helicopters. Distracting.

And I get every time a heart attack, when a Bambi crosses the road right in front of me. One time it was very close, probably only 2-5 meters.

Hi all, just got word from the team regarding the AI updates.

 

• They apply to all game modes and not just My Team.

Back in March i stopped encountering unexpected events, but as of the last couple of months i now encounter them again (My Team mode) so i think this was fixed a couple of patches ago, can’t remember whether it made the patch notes or not.

The short answer is that there were quite a few small changes across the board. None large enough to warrant specific call outs, but the end result is a smoother difficulty curve, as the note mentioned.

I don’t have specifics.

I think this would be a good thing to add to the summary. I know some people want specifics of "we made Pro X% easier, while also bumping up the top end of Elite by Y%" but that wouldn't be completely needed.

Just adding a bit more to the "we adjusted AI" would help and maybe adding in "the focus was mostly in the Pro and Elite tiers" or "with attention to the FWD classes" or something to help people know where to expect differences.

 

Love the updates and the transparency where we can get it, so keep at it! Just see if you can squeeze out a bit more specifics from people if at all possible 👍
