Cars: How much data is needed and how is it used?

Was curious about how the cars in DiRT Rally are modeled?  I get the impression that its intended to eventually be a hardcore sim, but I'm not sure how detailed the physics modeling is.  Let's say mod tools were implemented and I had access to a real car that I wanted to model in game.  What sort of data would I need to model the car in DiRT Rally?  How much real world data is usable or able to be simulated in DiRT Rally, and how is it translated from raw numbers into something the game can use?  Just curious, I'm sure moddability is low down on the list of priorities at the moment (and rightfully so).
