Is F1 2015 worth any money at all ?

Recommended Posts

Hi there people, before reading this message you should be aware that you may find disturbingly stupid grammatical mistakes throughout my post, as well as weird use of certain words in wrong contexts. The reason for that is that I'm french and despite doing my best to make the stuff i write comprehensible for everyone, i have truly no clue if what i'm saying is making sense for you or not :3

So, what i have to say is pretty simple and surely innapropriate since we're in codemasters realm. But please, you need to boycott this game. Not because I'm asking you to do so, but because you should be conscious of your consumers rights, and the pressure you can put on a company that seems at first glance untouchable, by just the simple act of not giving them your money.

The annual economic model they're using right now for this licence has no legitimate reasons to exist, each year they earn the jackpot for almost free develeppoment costs. The engine's the same, the textures are copy/pasted and the overall ergonomics is even getting worse every year. I may be a bit harsh there, but one thing is sure, there is no passion behind the work we are now used to see from this company.

You must realise you have the ability as a customer, to influence how the product you buy should look like. For years you and I have tolerated this traditionnal annual release, but now we have come to a point where the new content each year is so poor, that an amateur could have produced the next F1 game himself on his own, with a simple upgrade/mods done on his free time.

If you're concerned about sparing 60 bucks, you should massively boycott this licence until they're forced to lower the price at a much reasonnable level. And they're obviously not going to like that, better quality content for less money ? Truly a nightmare for a marketing crew. But that's here you step in, here is a company that won't listen to your complains ? No big deal, just let it drown. That's something we actually have the power to do if the majority of us can be on the same wavelength.

If we weren't so tolerant about this kind of marketing scam, we could have had a new F1 game every 5 years (mainly for the physics, and the graphical update), with a low cost update that is released each year (for no more than 10 dollars, or this would be very greedy from their side), to stay updated with the new reglementations and cars' changes.

Let me just tell you, that the annual game release is not a fatality, unless we think of it as if it was the case. They're just pushing it because no one is contesting the legitimity of this model. So i you want to do a fair purchase the next time a F1 game get released, you have to put pressure on the editor/developpement team very soon, or we're going to stay stuck forever in this unfavorable situation, where one side is clearly abusing of the other.

Thx for reading mates. See ya.

I can't say how much the game is worth but they have put back in game modes I sorely missed these past three years. I'm gonna give this one a go and get me the collectors edition but if I don't like it, I won't play it and will either have it collect dust, throw it or give it away. Let's just hope I like it!

since  F1 2011 I aint bought on release day or pre ordered anything from codies, I remember paying full price, was really excited about playing it, got home and started a online session straight away with a group of friends, we couldn't even start a race as some Spanish guys thought it was fun to vote to kick us all out and it only took 2 of them voting to get us all out, then when we did get a game started and about to do hot laps in qualli 2 guys would vote to quit session and it would end instantly, took them so long to patch the game I felt I had been robbed as we could not play the game as intended, a few minor glitches is ok but how the hell did the game get signed off when they should have known this nonsense would ruin the experience for us, then everyone found out about the 11-11 bug which totally ruined the game. I just don't trust codies anymore, when the going got tough what did they do, retreated into there shell and pulled the plug on the best forum there was for us codies fans, great community built up and then destroyed in 1 fowl swoop. normally after xmas you can get the f1 games for 25bucks and even at that I felt it was a rip off for basically the same bugged out game as the year before with a few different gimmicks to entice us back. we all said back then it was something fundamentally wrong with the ego engine if the same bugs were there year on year but hey ho we are just dumb gamers what do we know huh

I think it's worth some money given it's on a new engine and all but nowhere near as much as I think CM think it is. Given it is lacking a lot of offline features that people enjoyed from the previous games I think it's definitely gtoing to hurt the sales for 2015 but it looks like CM will have to accept that and make a better fist of it in 2016 assuming they can scrape enough coins together for another go.

I purchased my PS4 just for F1 2014 then they went ahead and made it for the PS3! We have all been waiting for the damn thing to be released but this time around there is some stiff competition so I'll sit it out until the reviews come in (the ones that count... the community!) I'll be waiting and watching instead of getting it day one and being disappointed yet again...

I'll be comparing it to pCARS. And if you look at the career mode of pCARS you will see that it is 28x the career mode of F1 2015.

pCARS costs approx €70 so F1 2015 is worth about €2,5. To make it fair for codemasters we will make it a round figure, we will also take the expensive F1 license in account so €5 for this mini game is a fair price

Does anyone know if you get more than one season in either pro season or championship mode?

I do live in the UK but I've ordered mine from Amazon but then I ordered it back in August last year. Knowing my luck lately though it'll be delivered a day late or something like that seems to happen a lot with me regardless who I order from. Happened with Grid Autosport and will likely happen here too. Still I'll just keep myself going on my other racing games in the meantime it's a good job that generally I'm pretty patient because sometimes it does get tested. But then as the saying goes" good things come to those who wait."

Eh? The game is about to be delivered this week without us knowing what it looks like yet?

Ah, thanks for clarifying.

I'm thinking about getting it too, but I'm not sure yet. My laptop meets the minimum specifications but that means it'll overheat like hell on the lowest settings (even with my laptop coolers) - and I already have some simulation games that are less demanding. I will buy a gaming PC this summer, though, so what do you think on getting PCars or Assetto Corsa?

Well of the 2 I'd say P cars has the better career mode as Assetto Corsa's one is pretty basic  although the AI are very tough for me on AC. I don't know about PCars AI though as I've not played it. It may serve you well asking @Hughesy though as he is one of the backers behind it if you want more info on P cars.

Edit: Forgot to mention over in the Off topic section in the Project Cars thread there are videos and screenshots of the game if you're interested
