Can't assign Fanatec shifter

The game sees my Fanatec Clubsport 1.5 Shifter (USB) but will not assign all gears. Some gears assign, some do nothing. Shifter works perfectly in all other games/sims.

@RagingBeard @jschizel I'm interested in communicating with any other fanatec users, as my CSW 2.5 on my xbox one was working fine before the S1 update on Dec 3rd, now its useless - no feel, ffb, spring, vibration, no nothing with everything maxed makes no difference. Are you guys successfully using fanatec wheels??

I have a Thrustmaster TS-PC Racer that is working fine. I hope you get it resolved soon...

Hi @ChrisGrovesMCM yes I'm absolutely still having the same issues!!

I'm really not sure if I can be any more descriptive that my other multiple posts but here goes;

A short description of the problem: The force feedback, wheel feel, vibration, kerb effects, road noise, wheel centering - literally any movement or feel in my wheel completely disappeared after the December Season One Update. I have a fanatec CSW 2.5 and it was working fine before, even if the FFB and options needed some tweaks here and there - it was playable and I was enjoying the game. Since then through other patches and updates including the one this week, it remains completely useless and I cannot play it.

Platform you’re on (PS4, Xbox One, PC, Steam): I am on Xbox One - an Xbox One X to be precise.

Game Version (Shown on the Start screen in the bottom left hand corner): There is no such version shown on my screen? I have the latest update

Game Mode, including if it was Single Player or Multiplayer (Time Trial, Career, Grand Prix, Custom Game etc): ALL

What happened in the lead-up to the problem? Remember: if a bug cannot be reproduced, it cannot be fixed. - the S1 update caused this so whatever you did to 'fix' other problems, must have caused this

If you get an error message, the exact wording of the error message you're receiving: NO

Any accessories you are using (wheel, pad, etc.): Fanatec CSW 2.5 wheel base, Xbox One Wheel etc. Fanatec pedals

I don't think there is anything additional here but I do look forward to a resolve asap!

Appreciate that Chris thanks - something obviously changed as part of the update. I believe people with thrustmaster wheels had the opposite, where they weren't working as they should and then after the update they were fixed? One would assume whatever was changed to fix these effected fanatec the other way? Has anyone else at all reported this - I find it hard to believe I'm the only fanatec user that has experienced the problem!

This is the key thing really - very difficult to push topics forward if it's an individual report, and we don't have other similar reports to compare and find trends within. Will be tricky without some more reports, but will do what I can! 

Sure you've already tried, but just in case: please make sure you've looked into manually assigning peripherals and their inputs through the menus in the game 👍

Spoken to the team and we can look into this, but understandably, as it's a single report, we have to prioritise more pressing matters. 

Know it sounds obvious but please check your device's own performance, and as mentioned, check the in-game settings for assigning and adjusting wheels, just so we can rule out some possibilities. Thank you

Hi, yes I've spent the last 6 weeks or more trying different things, plugging in in before start up, after, changing controller, different wheel options on the wheel itself, re-calibrating, resetting, turning it off, hard reset, ...... it's just broken. I'm not asking for something that complex really when you think about it. we know when and how it was broken, during that specific update S1. It's not an unknown, it's something that was done then that needs to be reversed! Just because I'm the only one reporting it, doesn't mean no one else has it - they just aren't here! The wheel works on every single game as before on other games, and on my PC. I've checked fanatec firmware is up to date and all that type of stuff. the wheel turns the car and the pedals do work, there is just simply no feeling. I can turn the wheel with one finger like it's off at the plug, it turns but turns with no resistance as it would when it's switched off. it's so frustrating because I was one of the people in the community sticking up for the game, I thought it was decent in many ways and if I can't play it, I'm afraid it's not!! Do let me know what you think!

The fact it is still perfect on 5 or more other games still, on my Xbox and PC, indicate the game and that update is at fault here. Enjoy your weekend.

I reported a similar issue for the same shifter. I admit if I was someone else reading my post I'd say "it sounds like he has other issues, no the fault of the game" but my shifter works perfectly in any other game I play, it only falters in GRID.

Thank you - now we have some correlation!

@Marc1011 I've checked in with the team on this topic. For the wheel, we're in constant conversations with suppliers like Fanatec to try and ensure that devices are optimised and fully compatible with GRID. There are a couple of snags on both our side and theirs that, when fixed, could resolve this issue for you. Stuff like this is a constant battle so rest assured it's being worked on, but I can't give you a timeline at this stage. 

For the shifter issue, I'm going to dig a little deeper and try to get more info, as this may be a separate issue. 👍

Thanks @ChrisGrovesMCM I appreciate that, however if this was never working and you were working on getting it to be compatible, I see how this makes sense. The fact it worked one minute and then immediately after your update for s1 it didn't means you already had what you need in place for it to work fine, something was changed or removed in the game that now stops it happening? I hope it's resolved soon! Not sure how the shifter issue relates as my shifter has been and still does, work fine though.

@ChrisGrovesMCM is there any progress yet? This will be 2 months soon rendering the game useless, I'm going to have to sell it and move on - and I'll be seeking compensation as I paid for current and future DLC in my edition and it simply cannot be used!! There is no way this is an issue with anything of mine because it used to work until an update was done. You see my point?

Going to check in again today to see if there's something in the Season 2 update that may improve the situation here.

Hi @ChrisGrovesMCM - ok so downloaded the update, I can see season 2 things - and it's no different. At this point I'd really like to know if I should bother waiting at all or just get rid of it while it's still worth something.... this doesn't help with the fact I've paid for the DLC that I haven't been able to use at all though. Any good news for me?? This is a real disappointment! Look forward to hearing from you when you have time I can see you are busy!!

Hey @Marc1011 - said I'd keep you updated when there are changes, and the situation at the moment is the same. Fanatec have identified the issue and are testing some fixes. Once they verify those, we can add them into the game 🙂
