I guess you see that there are no custom lobbies not even playlist just random mtchmaking and private lobbies only for friends? For specator and text not even a word..

From my opinion, everything that's wrong with multiplayer;

 

• No lobby browser/ability to create a public lobby
• No driver stats (previous games had this; average finishing position, miles driven, podiums etc)
• No impact rating (previous games had this; hello griefers)
• Instant Y to reset (hello griefers)
• Everyones using the same car (previous games at least had customization. now we all use the same car and they look the same because livery editor is trash).
• No ranked playlists
• Quickplay lobbies are never close to half full, yet alone full
• Quickplay has AI
• Bugs like people jumping the start countdown - a good 3 second head start
• Bugs like people starting at back of the grid crossing the line counts as 2 laps complete.. so lapping everyone before the first corner
• UI is non existent. Viewing players in the lobby takes 5 button presses. And you can only do that when IN a race.
• The "skirmish" "feature" they raved about is the most lifeless, soulless feature in the game. Featuring demo derby cars in a demo derby track with car damage disabled.
• No text chat
• Voice chat seems broken - never hear a soul
• The ONLY thing they've added to promote "progression" is accolades, banners and icons. Those are only shown at the start race intro.. and are so blurry, small and hard to see that you literally cannot tell the players name or what accolades they have.

@IconicJB you hit the nail on the head. This game doesn't stand a chance of having any life if the multiplayer is this poor. It really is quite shocking given Codies' track record...

Im having a lot of fun so far online it has been fun with friends but i would be bored of online already if i was playing alone.

This is just the start of what needs to be added or fixed with multiplayer some graphics and reflections are abit off its making it feel like an empty unfinished game. It is not enough to keep the player base longer then a few weeks.. i loved the first grid grinding to legend rank was incredible

@IconicJB pretty much said it all. I played a few rounds online, Skirmish feels slow and empty (like it is set in some kind of post-apocalyptic world lol), and I had no fun with the AI racers constantly crashing me out of the race. I want to play against humans online, not bots, even if the lobby may be half empty.

All previous cm games (grid,  dirt,  formula series)  have custom lobbies new grid why not?  Just turn private lobbies to public  one and add lobbies list screen,  do we ask for something extremely hard?

Need news on first patch that will address public/custom lobbies ASAP!!! All the other problems with the Multiplayer can be drip fed with the weeks...That follow.

i doubt first patch will fix features… look a tech issues sections… is enough if they will fix just a part of many erros…

to be fair your right it's not going to be first patch, I would be happy, just to know it's going to happen in the coming months. I really like the game, but for me.... Once I complete single player it's finished without this being amended.

The problem is that it should be in the first patch. If people have no reason to come back to the game for decent multiplayer content and progression, there'll be nobody playing it by the time they actually sort it out...

If they just change quick race for start like remove those flashbacks, remove AI, full damage on. I will be happy for some time. Then they could add everything else. I missed old Grid(2008) that multiplayer was perfect for me. Game for now is in bad condition, and many players could abandon this game and never go back, shame on you Codemasters. And where are tracks from previous games? I missing Toca Race Driver days, those games have got big amount of circuits. I hope you will repair your game soon. (Fingers crossed)

I truly regret not reading any reviews before spending €87.06 for this game. The Multiplayer experience is nothing like the original, it is nothing short of abysmal! I had made my Xbox friends thanks to this game back in the day, now this game in multiplayer just makes you feel humiliated for not being able to play against real players if you don't have friends playing the game, because trying to play a quick-match is atrocious, never a player, if you are lucky you might get 1 or 2 real players and 13 AI drivers.

WHY IN GODS NAME WOULD YOU OMIT THE POSSIBILITY OF A PUBLIC LOBBY!!! Where one could choose the type of race they prefer with the rules they wish. This was the greatest thing that made your original game so successful. Communicating with a head set whilst driving, bringing people together. Please fix this terrible multiplayer game you created! Its not impossible since you did this on XBOX 360, so you most certainly can do this on XBOX ONE X

I afraid all the reviews of the game pre-launch were glowing and didn't reflect what was missing in the game, PC Gamer reviewed after launch and I think it got 66% and tbh if you were a reviewer and had limited access to the game you would give it good marks too, the racing is actually fun, there is a lot to like but it is let down so much by the lack of track locations, cars and standard multiplayer features.

I've not touched the game for a week or two due to the farce that is mulitplayer. Then I read about the 1.1 patch and I thought 'hooray!, they must have sorted that out'

So I went to load it only to find patch 1.1 stopped the game working. So scurried around this forum to find help - and did... So with the game now working I jumped into multi player.

Amazing! Such an awesome job Codemasters! I sat there with the clock ticking bye in my banger racing car driving around the track. The clock carried on and on and on and not a single person was online!!! So I quit the game and thought 'Feck it, what's the point'.

Will give the game another rest and come back in a few weeks to see if the waste of money has become a 1/4 of the game it should have been.

Absolutely not, they earn what we reward them with our choices. If we sucк at make choices is not their fault. We should stop to be easy money customers.

And start to be well informed and demanding customers and gamers. As i said many times, this mean leave on shelf all games that:

- Are missing of some important features.  

- looks like rushed beta.

- Are too high priced.

And more, we should stop to buy preorders and day1 !! If a company deserve my money is because I touch with my hands before buy, so demo version is a must have.

Awful game. AI take you out at every opportunity. But the biggest problem is that know one plays the crappy game. Go into the lobbies your be lucky if you see 2 Human players. 

Yep codemasters have got there money so dont expect anything to change. This is about making money not giving us a good game remember that. 

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say  'I will NEVER buy another codemasters game.

What would be just as good, as having custom lobbies is when you press quick play it takes you to skirmish and from there you pick your discipline. 

 

For me the problem with quick play is not being able to choose what discipline to race. 

 

I like the three random selected tracks, so if you returned to skirmish after three races and could from there choose your discipline it would be just as good for me.

On a bright note, if you set the AI to super easy in difficulty, and happen to be the lobby host, the AI is generally easy to get by with maybe one or two cars rubber banding to the leaders, but not as aggressive in behavior.  When me and the friends I race with enter quickmatch, this is what we do and hope one of its are the lobby hosts.

Yes, everyone should make sure to put the AI easy when playing in Quick Match. Online is for racing against other people, not the computer..
