Historic car funner?

Recommended Posts

Is it just me or are the 2000-2013 f1 cars you get to drive at special events better? They feel lighter and snappier, handle great. Brakes feel unreal too. The 2019 cars feel like tanks and not as responsive.

That's because modern F1 cars are heavier. Minimum weight for this season is 740kg + 105kg of fuel for the race.

The Red Bull RB9 (2013) weighs 642kg including driver and fuel according to Wikipedia.

That's already more than 100kg difference and many drivers have been complaining about this. After all lighter cars accelerate and decelerate better, are more responsive, use less fuel etc.

So you aren't wrong. Modern F1 cars are heavier, which makes them less fun to drive.

Just imagine if they had a 3 litre (or less) 1200hp cap with no heavy hybrid system along with refueling.  We can dream.
