Dangerous AI driving

Has anyone else found the the AI cars are way to aggressive and attempt overtakes that are ridiculous .... thasif they don’t just drive into you for no reason as if your not even there .... 

3 of us race in a championship .. we have no assists except line on corners ... we run the AI at 85 % as that’s our pace but the AI stupidity ruins every single race .....

Try racing with the racing line on and see of the AI repects your postion if you're on the racing line. The AI drive the racing line and would beeline for it especially if you're off it slightly. They have a tendency to respect your postion if you're holding the line, so to speak.  Give it a try.

Totally agree. For example in Baku they are trying to overtake you at ridiculous places. Especially turn 15 where there is absolutely no space. . But also at turn 18 (the guick left and right hander before the main straight) where theycan better wait for the mainstraight/turn 1.

The AI has always been more aggressive online in every single one of CM's F1 games. It's likely because the actual behavioral components start to go a bit out of wack with even a little bit of lag.

Not really. They will make a move absolutely anywhere on the track if given the chance, even outside of overtaking places, and if they get even a bit of their front wing alongside your rear tyres they will dive. Similarly, if your car is amazing under braking but awful in a straight line like the RB, then if you're up against a car that has the opposite traits like an upgraded Racing Point, they will close the door even if you have the line because the game wrongly thinks they have the line just by virtue of you braking after they did and therefore only getting alongside them after the braking point (which affects the AI too, leading to Verstappen often getting stuck behind Stroll for very long periods of time).

They're hardcoded to perform "is this car fighting me?" checks in only two places (entering the braking point and fully exiting the corner) this year, and while normally this would be quite egregious even on its own, the AI also cheats on ERS and component wear (and also run medium ABS and the gamepad's innate TC) and will therefore always have more top speed than the player, assuming identical conditions (same car, an identical exit out of the previous corner and no slipstreaming), therefore ensuring that cases like this will happen very often unless you're playing on a very low difficulty.

It all gets even worse online because of the typical CM bad netcode and their behavioral component actually being influenced by the latency.
