More online events with DLC cars and tracks

Recommended Posts

Please have more online events with DLC cars and tracks. As it stands the vast majority of online events are base game content only. I don't mean every last one of them should be, players with base game only should still be able to play online events, but considering the massive amount of events there is certainly room to have more with DLC while still having at least some events that are open to everyone.

Bonus events favor new DLC, that kinda makes sense, but the drawback is that any DLC that isn't new is out of favor. Group B RWD are basically nonexistent in online events. Group B RX has a few events when a new RX track releases but otherwise it's nonexistent. Kit cars appear now when kit cars have just released, but after a while they will be nonexistent unless the present system is changed. 2000cc ditto. DLC rallycross tracks appear in a few events when they are released, after that there are no events with them at all.

And the fact that D+ events, which are only open to super deluxe players, do not use the DLC that is required to access them is utterly bizarre. I'm pretty sure you guys at Codemasters understand how nonsensical this is so just change it. Absolutely no one benefits from the current system, vanilla players are locked out of events and DLC players can't use their DLC.

DR2.0 has a lot of great DLC cars and tracks, with more coming. So it is a huge shame that this DLC sees so little use in online events, it diminishes the value of the DLC when we can't play them online. Please change that

Wow, an actual Group B RWD daily today. I think the previous one was 2 weeks ago, in Monaco. Yesterday there was a 2000cc daily, don't remember when the last one was. Wouldn't hurt to have a bit more events with these great cars

Just realized something. During the two months that I have been playing, I have NEVER seen an online event that involves driving a DLC car on a vanilla track. The rare events that feature DLC cars (easy to remember since they are so rare) are always on DLC tracks.

Why is this?

Ironically the current ‘Bonus’ monthly event contains only DLC content, which are the legacy locations from DR1.  So in effect the current ‘Bonus’ monthly is just replaying DR1 with stage degradation, improved graphics and maybe using a new car.

Meanwhile the regular and D+ monthlies only use the ‘new’ DR2.0 locations repeatedly month after month.

Now that we have 12 locations, can we stop the location segregation and get a monthly event that pulls from all 12?  The only way to get a mix is through ‘Your Team’ or the event creator.

What is this?? A promo event including both DLC and base game locations??

Maybe now that we know world doesn't stop turning if you have both in the same event, we could see some more of that.

Or events where you drive DLC cars on vanilla stages. Or on any stages, DLC rally cars are almost completely nonexistent in events now that even kit cars are "too old" to feature in events.

Or events that actually involve the season content that is required to play them. Dream big, right?

I think really the issue is the community events system was designed for DR1; a game that didn't have DLC. Dirt Rally 2.0 is trying to shoehorn a system that was made for a homogenous community into its new DLC business model.

The whole daily/weekly/monthly idea is nice, but it's certainly not the last word in good ideas for community competition. They could/should redesign the community events system entirely imo. It's not really a complex part of the game and shouldn't cost a tonne for them to deliver a better experience next time round. Admittedly, that's in a DR3.0 mindset. For DR2, yeah, what the OP said.

it's for the world series finals. these are the stages the finalists are doing. same for the promo RX tracks that are on this weekend:
