Share the telemetry of your hot laps and help other players

Recommended Posts

I have been using Iko Rein’s Telemetry Application and finding it extremely useful. It runs on a PC/Mac/Linux and records telemetry sent from the game running on PC/PS4/XBone. It allows me to compare my inputs (throttle, brake, steer, gears, etc) and the car reaction (time, speed, wheel speed, tire slip, g-forces, suspension movements, etc).

I usually compare two of my own laps, but I believe I could learn a lot from someone else. The tool can record the telemetry of ghosts from the Time Trial tables and I have been using that, but that only includes limited information (speed, brake, gears, but does not include throttle, steer, etc.).

Would anyone be willing to record some hot laps and post the telemetry online? The app saves each lap as a file you can attach on a post to this thread, or save on Dropbox/Google Drive and post the link here. I think it would be extremely useful for me and other players looking to improve their times.

You can see ghosts' telemetry in Time Trial. Or more accurately, you can see their line.

It would be helpful to be able to watch the actual replay like you can in PCars, Forza and just about every other racing game with leaderboards, though.

Yes, the tool will even save telemetry files for the ghosts. It contains the speed, throttle level and gear which you can use to compare to your own. But it does not contain all the information included when the app saves a telemetry file while the lap is being executed.

Hi Fernando,

I would be interested in sharing files, i use racing sim tools to record telemetry, do you know if the file type (*.lap) is compatible with the software that you use?. Is that software free ?

thanks.

edit:

Ok , i tried the software you use and it´s free but cant read *.lap files. Anyway i´ll try it for a few days and will see if I can adapt.

Would be cool, if the official F1 game had all these features included, instead of us having to use 3rd party apps and mods to make the most out of the game and or even to fix the game.

Codemasters, do your job!

Yes, the Telemetry App I use is free and I would guess the telemetry files are not compatible. Even if I that's not the tool I use, I would encourage you to post it in that format as it might be useful to others.

Overall I think it's suboptimal if the community is split between different tools with different formats, but tools have different pros and cons so that's somewhat inevitable.

I definitely see where you are coming from, and agree there should be some support for telemetry analysis built in the game. That said, making a racing game/simulator and telemetry collection/analysis software are two very different problems. I'm OK if Codemasters decides to focus on the former. Having support for exporting the telemetry in real-time to other apps is already very helpful, and I would definitely choose that over built-in telemetry analysis support if I had to pick only one.

Thanks a lot! That will be incredibly helpful!

My laps are not very fast either, but I will be happy to contribute. I sent you my Google Account as a PM.

Fernando

If anyone else wants to contribute just pm a google account to give permissions.

I wonder if the "fastest_laps" folder should be shared for all instead of inside each user folder, this way could be easy to find the faster lap in any circuit no matter the user. What do you think?
