"Event Details" should be more readily available?

Recommended Posts

I find it frustrating that I cannot see the event details between each stage, the only opportunity is at the Service Area. I've not got the best memory, especially when it comes to weekly/monthly events where I may have left for days and return to not know which stages/conditions are up next and/or when I will be able to repair my vehicle next.

Further to this, and in my eyes a massive oversight. When I am on the Events screen looking at the Daily / Weekly / Monthly events, there is no option to check out the event details. On the "Career Rally", and "Career Rallycross" there is the option to view the Championship Details from the Events overview screen, and hence know at what stage you're at before you select to continue. However for the Daily/Weekly/Monthly challenges there is no option for this.

I can have all the monthly challenges on the go at once and revisit them a week apart, but I have no idea where I am, until I select it, and even then I could be thrown straight into a stage or two before I get a chance to review progress. This would also be useful for the Daily Challenges, as there is no way (that I'm aware of) to check which stage (other than an image related to the country) you are about to enter until you have already selected and committed to it.

I believe it is on purpose you can't see what's coming next in the community challenges, so you can't prepare beforehand.

I can see how that may be the case on the Daily Challenges, however you can see the event details from the service area in any weekly and monthly rally, hence if you were so inclined to go and practice them then you could, also in the case of the weekly/monthly, then it's more useful to know where you are throughout the rally from the main menu screen, as they're the ones you're more likely to forget, and also more likely to struggle to fit around your daily routine.

it's worst in the monthly challenges, because there is no way of seeing which locations you are going to be doing after the first one until you have finished the first event! it's nuts!

I know, you won't like it, but I would prefer you can't see at all what's coming next, so you can't prepare. It's called a challenge, you know?

The leaderboards are getting just another Time Trial-leaderboards, if you can prepare and practice before. It's not like there are no other modes, were you can easily choose, what's coming next.

But oh well, since I don't do them anymore since september I don't care that much anymore anyway 😄

I forgot one thing: as you may or may not know, everything is viewable online, here: https://dirtrally2.com/community-events. you can even check out all the past events and stuff. the only problem is that the webpage has only got the standard and the D+ events on there. so there's no bonus events (or promo, though those are super rare these days).

and just my 2 cents: I don't care whether the community events are becoming a time trial competition or not. if people have the time to practice so they can "win" the community event, then great. but you get nothing for doing so other than a bit extra cash that someone who has played that much probably doesn't need anyways. it's a game. the point is to have fun. if your definition of fun is getting best in the world in a 9-stage time trial or whatever, the results of which are wiped from the game as soon as it's over and are only stored on a webpage, then cool. I sure as hell won't ever play that way because I just do not value that kind of thing (and also I'll never manage it lol). I play the game to drive all the different cars in the awesome locations and get better at doing so. that's about it.

anyways, have a nice week 🙂

Ah, thanks, I have seen that link before, and forgot about the ability to check all the stages. But I suppose that link just goes to show that this information is not intentionally hidden, it's freely available. So surely it should be more easily accessible in-game.

It reminds of another thread I started last month about the filtering, in reference to the link. On the site it allows filtering by assists on/off, and steering wheel/control pad. If it's on the site why not allow it in-game 😕

As you said, there are no results from other events. And those leader-boards have no option to find you on the page. There is "Show me" label, but looks like used for something else. Any way, doesn't work.

Unfortunately, similarly to lot of other features, also this one is half-baked.

Well, I didn't know that...or forgot, doesn't matter. So it really doesn't make sense, yes. But quite sad, because initially I thought these one-time-shots should be surprise stages, so you really can't prepare for them for extra fun.

Has absolutely nothing to do with "being the best". I just want a challenge, to have fun. That's it. I don't care about the others. Doing it without knowing what comes next is more fun to me than just prepare beforehand.

But I already said it, I barely play the game anymore...about 10-20% of the playtime before september. I moved on to other games (non-racing games), because it got a bit boring to drive the same stages over and over again. I'm just here to see how finland rally is done. But hearing it doesn't even have rain as a condition makes me sad.

Just playing the game without a goal or target is pretty boring in my point of view. I started playing games in the 90s. So the game needs to be challenging or I need a goal to have fun.

The "Show me:" precedes the options, as a colon tends to precede a list in general.

You either choose "show me: Everyone" or "Show me: Friends"

We really need the DLC locations mixed into the ‘D+’ Community events; at the very least added to the Monthlies.

no kiddin'! Have you ever seen "show us" or "show them" GUI function which displays thing on monitor? Just "Show" isn't enough?

Btw how your response translate to main complaint about missing info about logged player position on leaderboard.

I wish I could give the topic more likes.

Nothing in DR2 annoys me more than the 10 different situations throughout the interface where I can't see what on earth is coming next. You often don't even know if clicking something is going to drop you straight into a race, or a service area, and if it's the race you are outright forced to sit there and drive it -- or throw the event. And that's just from the main menu. Mid-event you can't check the rest of the championship, or even that event half the time. Online lobbies are even worse... you can't see what's next, how big the championship is, who's readied up, and so on.

You even frequently find yourself choosing a car not knowing what the track is.

Legit nothing in DR2 annoys me more. It is blow-my-head-off irritating, over and over again.

Hey @Beefcote852 @ianism @MaXyMsrpl

I know I'm late to the party but you can see Daily, Weekly and Monthly challenges here - https://bonxystuff.com/dirt.

It will let you see easily the Event location, the stages chosen for the event and what car class it is.

There is also a working 'Find Me' button if you need it. 🙂

That page doesnt pick up all montlys unfortunately. One is a bonus with kit cars and another one it doesnt show is the AI monthly. But its easier to browse than the one available on dirtrally2.com so ill bookmark it. Thanks

Yeh, it's a shame they don't output them challenges. Hopefully, in the future I will be able to display them. 😞

Excellent effort on the website Bonxy! That's useful.

Again another statement of how this is missing from the game interface however, when someone actually creates a website to show instead. I see you have the challenges that are detailed on www.dirtrally2.com, so everyone remains in the dark as to the locations in the other monthlies until they have played them for at least a whole event.

I'm going to raise it as a point on the bug reports for the latest update. I know it's not relevant to the update itself, but if a message gets liked enough on that thread, then Codies are more likely to look into it.

I'm curious where you're pulling the Car details from @Bonxy - are those just all of the time trial records parsed by car? If so I'd be way more interested in seeing a weighted rating for each car too based not on just the most popular car but their position on the leaderboards. Sure maybe there are 20k more GTI entries, but if the Space Star has an average placement 500 positions higher than the GTI Polo... well that'd be some cool info to have.

Hey @Mike Dee,

Are you on about the Cars List page?

@Bonxy yup, specifically the car leaderboard page:
image.png.97b608c33d8de9fec58638bb909894d8.png

Would be really cool to get a "weighted ranking" of some sort in the red circle that can indicate the average placement for that car specifically. Sure GTI is the most popular, but does that also mean the popularity can skew the average rank and bring it down? Actually scratch that, a small Placement Distribution Graph would be perfect for something like this. Essentially a mini graph like this one below, but with the # of placements split into tiers (make them 10% ranges or something). Would be cool to see if GTI has a giant valley in the middle but has spikes on the end. Maybe the Fiesta spikes in the middle and tapers on the ends. Just a cool comparison metric you might be able to use

I have added this subject on the thread related to the latest patch. The more likes a comment gets on that thread then the more likely Codies are to take it seriously, so I'd much appreciate some likes on the below link from anyone who agrees.

Thanks.

Hey @Mike Dee,

Id have to look into how I would get this to work but I don't mind trying to offer more stats. 🙂

But to answer one of your first questions, that page just shows the total results I hold per car.

The cars at the top of the list will have been in more events and stages.

Are these results from Time Trials or from Daily/Weekly/Monthly Challenges? Sounds like the latter since you say events.

These are just a cumulative total of what's in the DB grouped by the vehicle.

The results are only from Daily/Weekly/Monthly Challenges since the site started tracking.

Hope this helps.
