Charity event

Recommended Posts

If I can get the sponsorship and generosity of a company to loan me the kit, I am looking to do a 24 hour racing event on F12019, for a as yet unchosen charity.  I can't decide on the best format though. I.E. Whether to full races, TT, career mode or a mix.

I think something like 24 hours of Monaco (or a different track) on TT sounds most appealing, but as the racer, 24hrs of the same track will get tedious.

Thoughts and ideas?

Hi @PistoPete555,

That's a really cool idea. If you want to drive together with other players online, which I feel like would be the coolest for such an event, I would recommend either 100% races or a 90 minute practice session. (Put the rules and damage off maybe). Like this you could always change the track if you wanted to after 1:30 hours or drive like 4 session on one track.

So basically you have:

6 hours (4 sessions) - Monaco (example)

Next 6 hours - Monza

And so on😃

You could drive a 50% season with 18 min qualifying. (21 tracks at about 65 minutes each plus 'comfort' breaks).

I doubt anyone will loan you the kit though. Why would they when virtually everyone who would take part has either a PC or console?

I'm sure you could get players to sign up via initial donation. You need a livestream but also a way to capture the imagination of people you expect to watch and donate.

You'd probably need to think of a charity as well to be fair.

Yeah of course need to think of a charity, since thats the point. But no it would be just me racing, thinking of getting a second person to tag team with me.

i’ve found a company who provides simulator kit for charity events so going to contact them.

Good idea about 50% races.

Yes good idea. But TBH if charity was the main reason with the idea of raising the most money you'd be better off enlisting the skills of a seriously skilled racer, or at least some high end esport racers. Maybe you could aim high and ask Lando Norris to make an appearance even if only as a pundit for an hour , as he is heavily involved in sim racing, albeit more usually iracing . Absolutely no offense meant to your own skills and personality but people are always much more willing to part with money when a big name is behind the project. You could also possibly ask retired real life racers who may fancy a bit of exposure again. There's no end to the amount of interesting people you could choose from if money raised was your primary concern. Joking apart you could contact Williams or McLaren and ask if their office staff or even engineers would be willing to do a challenge race against each other.

If you have good organizational skills you might me onto something here!
