Absolutely!

I see @elura11 has been randomly disliking in the thread again: at least give us a comment!

No worries! Bit more (useless) information for you @BatteredSav93 is that Prodrive actually used "S" designations for the pre-Impreza Subaru programs, specifically:

S1 - Group A Legacy

S2 - Group N Legacy

S3 - Group A Impreza

Neither he, nor anyone else ex-Prodrive who has answered me, can explain why they skipped S4 (someone on the forum here pointed out there was an S4 SVX model, so maybe skipped to avoid confusion with the staff in Japan?).

The information from Martyn does tie a lot of loose ends together though: I couldn't understand why the WRCar spares lists only ran from S5 to S14, but the parts breakdown for individual cars show some parts prefixed with S3: S3 parts are Group A Impreza parts that were used on the WRCars.

So, I can't confirm it 100%, but I found this, and as the Japanese seems to be a superstitious bunch, I think it might be it.

Edit: Apparently they skip 4th floor in buildings as well.

Four¬†is¬†an unlucky¬†number¬†in¬†Japan¬†because it sounds like shi (ś≠Ľ ‚Äď death). This¬†is¬†why there¬†are¬†two readings for the¬†number¬†four, shi and yon. Whenever possible, people try to avoid using the deathy one. The same¬†is¬†true of the ku (šĻĚ ‚Äď nine), which sounds like ku (Ťč¶ ‚Äď suffering, agony or torture).7 jan. 2019

Well that is another strong contender @bogani: they skipped 13, so definitely not unfeasible to think 4 was skipped for the same reason!

Finally saw the Top Gear episode, wonderful tribute. Colin deserves a docufilm on a par with Senna, this NEEDS to happen!

It's not in the same tone as Senna, but this is well worth a watch if you haven't seen it:

Wasn't that the one contained in the DiRT Rally special edition?

Yes it was. It was part of Legend Edition and somehow I haven't watched it yet. Got the game on console launch day so i'm pretty late to it. Might watch it before the flat out dlc.

Cheers for that guys,

Is it available on DVD!?

Yeah, it's available on DVD and Blu Ray @Rogerbee. Duke Video will have it on their webstore, you might find it a bit cheaper on Amazon.

Dream car material for me: WRCar looks. genuine rally pedigree, newage STi drivetrain reliability and practicality.

I thought Prodrive gave the nucleus S numbering, not the SUBARU? second  SUBARU wasn't afraid to use the S "4" symbol for the 1995  road model Alcyone SVX  (the year when Prodrive skipped  the 4 number)

Oh yeah, good call @dani211212: doesn't make sense that it would be bad luck for a rally car but fine for a road car! ūüėĄ¬†

Still, could be an individual desicion taken by somebody somewhere.

I'm not ruling it out. Forget it.
