Appalling support for Steering Wheels (DiRT Rally)

Recommended Posts

I played a very enjoyable session of DiRT Rally on Tuesday with my Logitech Wingman Force GP, it was a pain in the ass to set up but it worked...for a while. The next day, all of my settings reset and when I went to set them up again I got a very lovely bug which made the menu constantly scroll up and the advanced settings always decreased, making it impossible for the steering wheel to work correctly. I really love this game and I know it's Early Access but come on? DiRT 2 supported this steering wheel perfectly, but DiRT Rally doesn't? I really really loved this game, of the 2 hours I played but support for Steering Wheels does need improving a lot.

Keep in mind that the bug is occurring even till this day. I have deleted config files and completely re-installed the game, the problem still persists. I also had an issue that the pedals did not become detected, I had to mess around in the Logitech Profiler for it to work.

Hi @DuSloth  - you may find this read useful: https://www.dirtgame.com/uk/blog/4580

I've seen on Twitter that DiRT Rally developers are now focusing on improving implementation of the FFB in the game. The second priority is extending the list of officially supported wheels. There were polls to find the most commonly used, currently unsupported wheels - the devs will focus on the most used first. You can find results here: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/comment/81553/#Comment_81553

Update: By messing around in the input's xml files I somehow got my steering wheel to work correctly. Even though I fixed it, I really shouldn't of done this to get a wheel working in a game that's main appeal is simulation.
