Pikes Peak - mixed surface, quattro, cockpit cam
pretty new to the game, but i live here, and have been driving the peak for 40 years.
i pretty much hold this run together, until it starts to come apart near the top at 19 mile, and then i don't quite get it back for the last switchback

Seems to have high gearing, and a LOT of short-shifting. (i remember shifting for Ford was discussed a little while back)
Interesting run.

no i use no assists.why would i slow myself down ;)

yes snaky you more or less hit it on the head.long gears short shifting.i cant believe i typed that now 50 messages in coming about why :D

its a little messy in places so with a bit more practice should be probably 2-3 secs quicker.

I got a bit annoyed over all the time I lost in the owners' club, so I wanted a new PB - in the 2010's underdog. Because why not. I managed to set a 2:08.7 - just a second off Elias' time in the Polo!

Wow, this game looks seriously arcade when you aliens attack the stages. It's impressive and a little sad at the same time. ;)

KB Shenanigans! Unfortunately there is an annoying camera issue right after 1m 20s, due to the cut i make for whatever reason. Ugh.

What are people using to edit and encode their videos? I capture using Shadowplay at the highest settings for 1920x1080 and I've been using VSDC Free Video Editor http://www.videosoftdev.com/free-video-editor. It seems to do what I need as my editing needs are rather basic, trim a little, add fade in/out, and scale down to 1280x720. I usually scale down because with the settings, 1080p gives me about a 1GB encoded ~3min video which seems a bit much, especially for the [poor] quality I get. Would capturing at 1280x720 to begin with be better? For the life of me I can't find any settings that give me a final video that will hold up to youtube's encoding and look good. Appreciate any help. Here are the settings I used in VSDC:

i'm noob ... just built my pc at thanksgiving.
and i'm not getting to capture video at all, yet.

my shadowplay program shows all green lights as if it's functioning,
but in game, i see no shadowplay icon displayed, and the alt+ commands do not yield any files.
it's not happening for me, until i figure out what i've got toggled wrong.
(i7 & geforce 970 driving 3 monitors)

Some experimenting my simracing league did using Dirt: rally highlights in TV format/style. Commentary is in Dutch, but hope you get the idea. It would be much easier if replays were possile to be saved or exported/uploaded.

Obviously even at 50Mbps from Shadowplay there's a slight loss in quality. it should still look fine after the editing software.

I use Premiere/Photoshop Element 14. For the type of editing you can do... It's actually very cheap, cost the price of a game(I spend a lot of time on it).  I usually do 3rd person & in car view to visualize better the racing line. Sometime I use it to compare run between mine & other videos that I rip for personal usage from youtube, so I can permanently improve my gameplay skill.

Result: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVbrBzoqtko

Premiere Pro has more feature for professional camcorder & has the ability to get customized with more expensive apps effect etc. Element as all the useful effect & can get the job done, but longer with various tricks. For professional gaming recording editing, it's useless for 99.999% to use the pro version.

What I hate in element is that it doesn't import project over project, thus when I do special animated logo I have to redo everything from scratch on the timeline.

Those are the setting I use to export, the video is 16min 40 which take 2GB for 1080P60

Practice for today's daily.  Unfortunately the actual run ended in a puncture toward the end...  :(

The throttle control, weight transfer & car sympathy needed for this car/stage/setup combo, is mental.  Getting to the end without accident or puncture is 50% pot-luck!!  & the slower you drive the 205, the less grip it has, but the faster you go, the more the car skips and stutters all over the surface!

Thanks for taking the time and posting your setup, I've seen your videos and do like the quality. Can't remember where, but I remember reading that constant/target quantizer would yield the best overall results and I see now that was wrong. I've done some test videos with CBR an ABR and think it's better overall. I think I'm done using Shadowplay as well. Even on the highest settings for 1080p it'll only give you a video that's roughly 42-44Mbps. Highest settings for 720p drops it down to around 32Mbps. A weird thing I've noticed with shadowplay when recording 1080p, fps might drop down to 58-59. Recording at 720p and I see drops down to 28-29. So, I have been trying out MSI Afterburner, it's got a lot of different options when it comes to capturing. It's got much better quality I think compared to shadowplay, especially for audio. Here's what I got so far:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8x0HWFmPpY
Captured with Afterburner at 720p, 60fps and adjusted the quality setting to get ~65Mbps video. Used Avidemux to encode 2pass ABR@18Mbps and upscale to 1080p. There's still a couple spots where it craps out (~15sec), so hopefully with a bit more tweaking I can get some good results. Thanks again for taking the time to help out.
