Mods and driving aids for online competitions

Recommended Posts

Are mods allowed online? Using a ffb mod seems to be ok,  but is there actually any type of vac system as we all want a level playing field.

It would be useful to know what the official stance is regarding mods and anti-cheat systems.

Secondly, isn't everyone simply going to use all driving aids set to 5 if there is no incentive to not use them?

And,  there is no way  of knowing what people are using...  Any plans to address this issue?

Using driving aids and assists doesn't make you better. It helps people manage what they aren't good at. It doesn't provide the optimal performance

If the physics and assists work properly you should be able to drive faster without them if your good. If you drive better with traction control for example it means you have poor throttle control. Driving in a way that ensures your tires don't lose traction will make you slower in many situations.

I'd imagine the vast majority would hate driving with assists on no matter how much it helped!

At yestarday, with my estimates, Monaco track driving aids of level 1 can give of order of 40 secs advantage. 40 truxed seconds! Its simply somewhat circus. Watch my topic http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/6263/official-cheats-in-online-events#latest

Real rally cars dont have these assists and neither should the game. They are a great safety net for road cars but if this is meant to be a proper rally simulator they shouldn't even be optional, it completely goes against what rallying should be about, ie; driver skill/car control.

In generally something is wrong in this game, With assist you can be quicker than without.
(Check peoples record made with keyboard and full assist, you cannot reach that with Assist off, even with H-shifter and clutch)
Too much assist prevents you to use your skills.
DiRT Rally assist gives you more grip at the accelerating on loose surface which is not acceptable while we are talking about a simulator.
