rjw273 1 Posted February 22 I'm a bit late to the party with F1 2019 but have now played 1 season in career mode and have got to China in my 2nd Season. I'm with Torro Rosso and hoping to gradually make my way up the standings like i've done in previous games. Most of my first season seemed to go quite well. My performance varied between tracks but more often than not i beat my team mate so i moved the AI difficulty up from 92 when i started to about 97. It then seemed to be more even with my team mate so left the difficulty there for a while. Once i got to Mexico in my first season my performance seemed to drop off a cliff. I thought maybe i just didn't have the right setup or Mexico just wasn't a good track for me but the same thing happened in all the remaining races of the season. It was as though my car had suddenly got a lot slower and i was losing up to 1 second to my team mate in each race. It seemed particularly slow in the straights with cars easily catching and passing me even with my fuel to Rich and ERS to Overtake/hotlap. When i started my second season i put the AI difficulty back to 92 but i was still at least a second slower than my team mate where as in my first season i was a tad quicker than him. My R&D has kept up with other teams around me and is in no worse a position than when i started the career. Qualifying any higher than 16th is now a real struggle and even if i do manage to start a bit higher up, when it comes to the race it feels like i have the car in reverse no matter what my fuel and ERS settings are. The only time i ever catch a car is if i'm on Soft tyres and they're on hard but that only lasts a few laps until the tyres go off. Its basically as though my AI difficulty was turned up by about 15 before i got to Mexico in Season 1! I can't for the life of me work out what has happened as i'm just so far off the pace compared to when i started the career. The only thing that crossed my mind is the 1.21 update was around the same kind of time that my performance dropped off but i can't find other threads reporting the same thing. Has anyone else's performance just suddenly gone down like that?

I haven't had this issue but you mentioned being slow in the straights, could your peddles / triggers not be going all the way to 100% throttle?
svensenk86 133 Posted February 24 I did not have this issue either, maybe you have invested in the wrong path when developing your car? The AI is also investing in their cars, Racing Point must have done something good in my career as they are quite competitive compared to the first season. In my first season, I drive the Alfa, I was also better than Kimi – and I got some good results. My second season is much tougher I have to say – but it is fun, I like to fight for my points. I always check my times compared to Kimi`s – and we are quite even, sometimes he is better sometimes I am.

You are absolutely correct! Just after I posted the thread, I started a random race and looked at how far that green line went around the gear indicator. I couldn't tell if it was going all the way round or not so tried another older controller and this one went that tiny bit further round. My normal controller was literally only about 2 or 3% off full throttle but obviously that makes a big difference in Formula 1. I can't believe i spent several races getting angry when it was something so simple! With 6 or 7 races down the drain i'm tempted to restart my career. Emma was getting pretty cheesed off at my performances so i don't want to risk upsetting her even more!! Thanks for all the advice and answers.
