Xray23 0 Posted March 30, 2020 Hey guys! Im new to the game, i completed my first year of career on easy mode, now playing on hard (50) with thrustmaster tx. I try to turn off assists one by one to improve my skills step by step. I am not impatient kid, i am 33 years old. Breaking assist on medium alredy and few races ago i switched TC to medium. On dry surface it was no problem at all, everything went just fine. When it started raining. i experienced some problems. Of course on wet surface its harder to drive, this is the biggest challenge. Ive seen some real races when the pilots also struggled. But i think my car starts to behave way too unrealistic. 2 laps after started raining i changed soft to intermediate (AI did the same). It was funny, this tyre set was worst then the soft in the rain... After 2-3 more laps, its still not heavy raining, but its like driving on ice. And in the last lap when the heavy rain comes its just unplayable. No fun, not realistic just unplayable. With 70-120 km/h i cannot take a good turn, and in straight the car starts to go left/right. *** are happening? I drive a lot on highways, my car in real life never behaves like this on this relatively slow speed. Dont kidding me, the car cannot turn at 80 km/h without sliding and much oversteer? I dont press full throttle, i brake way before the curve and using engine brake after, and gente throttle after the curve so i am not faster then an old, sick snail, but the car starts to behave unrealistically annoying. (and of course my +20 sec adventage disappeard at the end of the race, 3 cars in my ass alredy). Please help. 😄
BarryBL 4,323 Posted March 30, 2020 Do you have any video on this @Xray23 so we can take a look?
Xray23 0 Posted March 30, 2020 Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately i havent got video, but i tried the map over and over again. In straight lines the car remains stable if i dont stamp full throttle. But in corners i can drive way to slow otherwise the rear end slides out. A little bit more throttle and its oversteer. So it seems i have to choose: going to slow so AI can easily catch me or sliding out like a drunk driver. I cant se how can i do it better.
BarryBL 4,323 Posted March 31, 2020 Hi @Xray23 From someone who struggled/still isn't as good in the Wet as in the Dry, it is quite the curve. Maybe consider tinkering with TCS on full to medium as a practice method. That helped me as a way to take part of the training wheel off. It was a case of practice for me in the wet, and even in the Dry. Check these forums, there's a few videos of me spinning on my own haha. Braking assist in the wet is also something that has caused users a problem. Consider taking braking assist off and putting TCS up to full to compensate. Means you can brake earlier and harder, and would help your throttle out of corners too.
1512marcel 457 Posted March 31, 2020 What also helps is using a standard setup. Low(er) downforce if you know rain is predicted. I noticed standard setups, even in dry weather is giving more traction than personal setups.

I noticed standard setups, even in dry weather is giving more traction than personal setups. Low(er) downforce if rain is predicted? Clearly you've spent too much time setting up a car in codemasters f1 "simulation!" In the real world lowering downforce reduces grip and increases straight line speed. Regardless of which motorsport class, if downforce is adjustable in that class, increasing downforce will prove faster in the rain than lowering it. Every single time, no exceptions! If your explanation holds any truth, the design of the game is fatally flawed. Whilst we're on the subject of rain, in the real world, fuel consumption will be less in the rain. In codemasters simulation, the opposite is true. Edited March 31, 2020 by ChasteWand
1512marcel 457 Posted March 31, 2020 I meant more downforce, my mistake.
