Codies games are good but i find myself back with Rfactor?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Just thought id see if people agree on my thinking here and see what ideally would be the perfect mix (if there is one).

I have played a lot of the codies f1 games over the past years, however i find myself playing them in spurts maybe 1 month at a time then i get fed up of the rubbish boat like, pre determined physics and i end up back playing Rfactor with a new mod or assetto corsa. Does anyone else find this? i play mainly offline in career mode or single races.

Codies seem to have the budget to make a great F1 game and come out with a great looking game with rubbish game play. The career mode in 2013 was good, however there could have been alot more detail in it.

I don't think i will end up buying the new version as i think no career mode is a deal breaker for me as some of the idiots online just annoy me. I hope to see career mode back in 2016 but this year il stick to AC and Rfactor.

For me the ideal f1 game would have the following:-

-Realistic physics! (this is the core of the game get this right and every gimmick doesn't matter).
-Career mode (obviously there are licensing issues for a lot of this but id like it set out a bit like FIFA be a pro where you talk to teams and if your in a current team you have to hit targets or YDT timings. Also id like to pick my helmet, number gloves boots and customize my character.)
-Warm up Lap
- Start procedure (Like a launch control type thing, hold a button and release at lights with optimal power applied for the best start)
-Manual pit stop (in rfactor i like attacking the speed limit line to get every last tenth out of the stop, stopping on the marks and then taking the limiter off at the end of it)
-better AI (make them alot more competitive and life like (pastor crashing into people, button easy on tyres etc)).
- Better weather (drying lines, puddles, etc)

These are just some of the things i have thought of and was looking to see if anyone else out there feels the same?

Cheers

Collin

Could not agree more with you post.... but your subject line is a little silly. If Codies games where aso good you would find your self playing that. Not in rfactor. :)

Funny you should mention this actually...

Just yesterday I reinstalled rFactor and downloaded the F1 1988 mod again; I had made significant changes to it for personal use a while ago and unfortunately I lost all of the work I had done :(

However, I have been hard at work again and re-worked all the car textures; Nothing much just altered the colours slightly and reworked some logos, most of my work has concentrated on the McLaren team though. I have found that the 1990 trackpack is very good in single player mode...(the only mode I play).

So yeah, I am back with rFactor for now but obviously when F1 2015 arrives, I 'hope' most of my focus viers in that direction...

By the way, has anyone heard anything else about the Senna game that was supposed to be in development by Reiza studios...?

I normally play the codies games on playstation as i dont want to clog up the PC too much.

Rfactor is great just frustrating at times when the AI dont pit for tires. lol im not as clued up as sum to change the scripts for the AI.

Iv never went down the old school F1 cars but have heard the 1988 mod is great fun to drive by a number of people.

Here's to hoping that Codies bring more to the table in 2016.

Please get me some more info.  Anything associated with Ayrton Senna is bound to be good.

The last I heard on the game was it was still in development, and that was in 2012! :(    -   I have been eagerly awaiting for it as many others, but there just seems to be no information about it...

Strange thing is, they are still updating and adding content to Game Stock Car Extreme  which makes it even more strange...???

I just hope some news comes 'soon'..., sorry for that, just thought i would put that in! :)

P.S. Just look on Reiza Studios website...they have the information there.

Thanks for the info. To be released in 2012....lol, so much for that.

I think Codies F1 games have the best career mode out of anything Simcade-Simulation, and that's saying something.

It's a shame that career modes seem to be neglected. I find that in games like rFactor and Game Stock Ca Extreme which I find really fun and challenging to drive, the presentation of those games is underwhelming. Even though Codies F1 games just do the same kind of news artciles in between races, the presentation is better and makes me feel like I'm part of something.

I really hope for a game to do an F1 2010 live the life style, but do it to it's full potential. I would really like a feeling of progression in a racing game. It was something I was expecting from Project Cars, but unfortunately the open wheel categories are all Spec Series. So there's no sense of progression in terms of getting an offer from a back of the pack team in Formula A, and proving yourself to get an offer from a top team in Formula A.

In this sense I think Codies have a golden ticket with the F1 franchise. They need to expand on career objectives and perhaps make them more dynamic. Instead of, you qualified 18th, finish 16th or we will be angry. Get praise for putting your car further up the grid than it belongs, but also get praise if you make a big mistake, but manage to recover the race to a decent finish.

Racing games need to have something which gets you involved in a season or a championship rather than a race by race basis.

But I do agree that other racing simulators are more fun in the driving than codies F1. Just my little rant about the lack of career modes in racing sims
