The Dirt Daily Thread

Recommended Posts

Daily: Lots and lots of mistakes and bad gear selection in corners, the default gearing in the Sierra is truly atrocious. Overall the time was ok I guess. gheed must have messed up worse than I did.

Don't know yet whether or not I'll do the R4 daily seeing as I dislike driving houses. :D

R4: Happy to sneak ahead of Dorfer with the two silly near-crashes i had. What a house, like Porkhammer says.

Sierra? Eh, gonna do it after writing, but it's Finland so not gonna comment more than this.

Sierra: All went well until the tree hit us and took off a front wheel.

R4: Was handed a low and stiff Monte setup - thank you very much, game! Car bounced off absolutely everything. Kept it on the road somehow, but time was pitiful.
As a test I drove the same stage in a custom event with the _default_ setup, and the car swallowed bumps and edges like a charm. Even though I managed a long excursion through the woods I easily beat my daily time. Bah.

Daily: Jumpstart and ALT-F4.
Delta: Lost 2 seconds nudging snowbanks at high speed.

Oh man... I would be glad if I could state that. More like 20 seconds for me the most of times.

Yeah it was definitely lucky that I could countersteer quick enough to avoid spins, but the timeloss annoyed me regardless.

Heh... well, I was quite annoyed as well, since the game gave me what seemed like a Monte Carlo setup... 196km/h top speed, stiff and low as hell. Effectively, I rolled not from clipping a snow bank, but from the car bouncing so much in a corner xD

Mini daily was average, at the very end hit the rock with the rear of the car and made a 360, ended up middle of top tier.

S4 run was just awful. So many spins and rolls. When right before the finish it showed that I was behind delta time already, I just Alt+F4'd, just f*ck that

Oh dear. One single mistake with the Mini cost me 2secs and killed my ambitions for a good result. However, also the rest of the daily wasn't free of errors, not at all.. A daily to forget overall.

Daily: RX - skipped.
Owners' club: 306 Maxi in Germany. Pretty good run, I only messed up the chicane towards the end, don't think I lost more than a second.

Daily 2: Same same, but different.. same story as yesterday. Did a practice run, 2:48 with a huge mistake in the hairpin before the finish. So I looked forward to the daily with the Maxi. After an okish 1st sector, mistakes after mistakes, I just dont bring a clean run together, not anymore...

Daily 1: RX in Sweden, won by quite a difference, top tier

Daily 2: Couldn't do it as I don't have the Maxi :( Not yet anyway

Daily: Ah yes, the car with waterbed suspension. Trying to push it in practice resulted in a roll every time, so I got bored and just went for the daily driving very slowly and cleanly. Stupid car.

Delta: Felt clumsy, but maybe the time was quick, who knows.

Gah, late update for yesterdays Dailies, first time back after about 10 days with no Dirt.

D1: Instant DQ because my DFGT wheel wasn't working properly and gave me a major jump start.

D2: Fixed my wheel to be a G27 again and did ok in the shakedown.  Proceeded to crash on the third corner!!!  and the 7th and Lord, prob another one or two after that :(

Tell the engineer to adjust that damn light ramp on the Focus so you actually can see anything but the road 2 meters in front of you!

Started off with owners' club. Practice went fine, almost matched my PB. I could beat it easily in the event, all I had to do was to focus for 2 mins 43 secs, how hard can it be? But, of course, I messed up - got distracted by what I thought was a false start as the car lost revs and tried to move forward during countdown for whatever reason. And so, I hit most of the snowbanks, ended up slower than my crappy PB, so I didn't consider it worth uploading.

Subaru daily was equally bad. The setup - again (is this a thing with the 1995 Subaru?) felt completely different from practice, meaning I had to adjust to new characteristics all over again. The time was acceptable - 3:13.275 - but the driving was not. Even though I'd be leading the daily, I opted not to upload the time due to how shit my driving was. I just cannot stand bad driving from myself. It infuriates me.

Kadett in Germany was going very well until I made the abhorrent mistake of touching the grass on a low speed corner which sent the car spinning as if struck by an invisible hurricane. Slippier than the ice in Monte Carlo it seems  :D

Still top tier so it ain't all bad

Stupidly I thought I'd try the wager today and just my luck it is  in the CENSORED hence 3 sectors in and over the cliff I go  :#

Don't think I'll bother again.

Yeah @KK78 - the wager event is a hidden event. Don't reveal any details about it. Edit your post.

Anyway, daily... Kadett, Germany. Frauenberg in the rain. Some interesting cornering techniques were needed, but I think my time was very quick. Let's see how it holds up.

Yep, Wager went pretty much the same as @KK78. No surprise there.

Whew, that PP daily was fun. Mostly.
First run, not so much...went off twice, killed a couple spectators, had the car pretty much wrecked by the end. :'(
Completely misjudged a couple of fast corners due to the bad lighting, although I had done the Gravel/Quattro combo just a couple of days ago...but that was with full Afternoon light.
Second run was much better and way more fun, although the hairpins were still bloody awful all throughout.  :#
Credit my complete lack of skill and coordination in regard to left foot braking and keeping momentum for that failure. But other than that it was absolutely amazing to dash up that mountain at those speeds...9:08.794, not too shabby for my level, and ~5s better than my previous best on the gravel course.
Now I'm kinda positive I can someday actually finish below 9 minutes. I still have no clue how people do it in 8:30-something, but I feel really sorry for their Quattros  :s
