Has the default setup on the 405 always been that bad? Understeer for days and 6th gear capped at 215? How are we supposed to do a decent run with that?
It does a decent job coming out of the hairpins, but everything else has a really strange feel to it. I always wanted to change up to another gear when I was raping the rev limiter in 6th...

Holy wow!  H pattern makes *that* much difference?  That's crazy :(
Only when used with clutch - it lets you powershift. Shifting without releasing throttle. It's megafast and is a huge advantage - especially in the kitcars and some 2010 cars, because their sequential shifting is so slow. The Polo comes to mind...

Oh and powershifting doesn't damage anything. Funny.
Are you actually depressing the clutch at all or just crashing the box ?

Yes, I press the clutch and release very quickly while changing the gear, without releasing throttle - resulting in very quick shifts. It's very sensitive to misshifts though; too fast and sometimes the gear won't register.

You can always say use the H box and go clutchless.
Then you might as well use sequential, because H-box without clutch is just as slow since you can't powershift. :P H-box without clutch auto-releases throttle when shifting as well.

In short: sequential users are screwed no matter what they do.

With that, I really do wonder how slow some people are in Pikes Peak, when the biggest slowdown I have is the gear changing duration... I would be flying easily below 8 minutes with the powershifting trick.

Anyway, Dailies for me... had an off with the Delta and the Wager went... surprisingly well. Currently 5th. When I consider that I'm usually way behind the pace in that combo, it's really amazing who I managed to beat. Then again, wager, so most weren't pushing at all.

No, his clutch has been busted for a long time (he may have fixed it *very* recently) but i thought it was still broken, he wasn't using it last time i watched his feet a few weeks ago.

He can certainly change gear more quickly than my semi setup.

I screwed up the Integrale daily royally, going off at the third corner and having no feeling at all for the car.

Delta daily felt kind of slow and safe, but seems like it was decently fast somehow. Just after Ama2ki which is quite awesome for being me :-)

I watch all of his streams and the clutch is working just fine according to the telemetry. :D

The only reason for a bump in performance is the slipping clutch effect using a h pattern, this will help even in 2010 class as it will raise boost also, i would be interested also if folks have tried slipping the clutch to give a extra bump in performance to get cars on cam and in the right power range.

You can't do it where you think, the speed isn't from kicking the clutch, whilst a high powered or turbo car under acceleration load (that has become bogged down) can benefit from a clutch kick (as you say) to get the revs higher, it will not in anyway have any affect on the gear changes we're talking about here.

The semi and auto gears have a time to change between the gears, in short, if you can handle the hears and have an H box, you will always be able to shift faster because you're not longer limited/affected by the time to change.

those struggling with sequential issues have they done this mod

<controls neutralTimeToShift="0.00" />

in hardware config ?

Can try tonight, but I think that's just a protection against double shifts, i.e. a grace period where you can't shift again.

Yeah clutch slipping has nothing to do with it; it's just the sheer shifting speed that gives you the extra performance. Some of the cars changes gears so slowly that it's kind of a must to gain those extra seconds that lets one grab a world record.

Daily: Alt-f4'd because the Focus' default setup is so disgustingly soft that it kept bogging down in corners when trying to do them quickly. I think I would have done a 2:35 though, as I did a 2:37 in practice after clipping a tree.

Delta: Pretty good run.

Had a run in the Stratos on the same track before doing the dailys. The BMW is an understeering pig compared to the Stratos. Still, beat my Stratos time by 1 second and got a 3:02
Focus run went a bit faster, but could've been even faster if that damned thing hadn't stalled on me twice. Got a 2:52

Ugh. Focus 2001, Pant Mawr. 2:36 in practice. Daily run was going great until the very final sector, where I turned in too early for a tight corner and scrubbed off too much speed... which was then followed by a misshift. Another 2:36, which would have easily been a 2:34. This angered me, and I think yous can guess the rest.

Silly 2000's cars.

I've stopped doing practice for any non-Germany daily, less frustrations and expectations that way. :D
