The Dirt Daily Thread

Recommended Posts

Mk2 daily, Wales... pretty clean. Just annoyed over a couple of bad lines that costed me a second or so.
RS200 delta daily, Finland... tried a couple of practice runs. Couldn't finish one. Steering too sensitive. Not in the mood to adjust to it at the moment.

Ok, delta daily done. 3:06 with some pretty poor driving, including taking the completely wrong line over a jump and landing in a ditch. That's what hypersensitive steering does I guess. I expect it to be beat by at least 4 seconds.

Daily: R4 - nope.
Owners': Well would you look at that. Setup bug again - and with my own setup, too. Practice went well, had a 2:51. I reckon I could push for a 2:49, since my Wales setup felt pretty good. I changed nothing in it, yet it acted completely different in the daily. The car bottomed out in every-single-corner - I tried to adjust to it as the stage went on, but then it bottomed out in that final 5th gear right hander right at the end and threw me into the trees. With tall ride height and soft suspension.

Why? Since when does the Countryman act like this?

I didn't notice any difference between my practice and daily in the countryman.
Though i don't really tune it much different than stock in Wales.
Had a good smooth run, not the fastest but good for a top ten.

This is so frustrating.... After having such a good time in the last weekly with the Mitsubishi in Germany, I failed to do a proper Verbundsring. So many huge mistakes, a stone hit and stuff let me only 6/100 behind the current leader... wtf? Could have done a 3:22, but I throw it away...

I pretty much did a graphics check run. Apparently rainy Verbundsring on medium preset lags far less than Sunny Verbundsring ... awkward. Did post up a gameplay+replay of my Mitsu daily, a very drifty run. Was fun to see grass again too, but had to disable it after it started to lag the game on tricky braking points. -,-

Subaru 2001 daily, Sweden... 3:14 target time. 3:16 is what I got, because I messed up two corners. Hmpf. Crappy run. My runs has got to be flawless or they're not good! I'm a picky bastard.

Daily: Renault R5, Sweden - absolutely useless run. A full six seconds slower than my target time - on a sprint stage! People driving with keyboard and automatic gearboxes will beat this.

Delta: Polo, Wales - some mistakes, as to be expected with me being unable to cope with the horrid default setups of the 2010 cars. My biggest gripe was the accidental cut though. I turned in a bit too early in the downhill right hander and slid off the road, which was fine - but I ended up straightlining it into the following bend. That infuriated me - and from then on, the run was just awful.

I have been committing most of my (very limited) gaming time to MGS5. I need to get back into the swing of the dailies again!

I would have beat you with an auto gearbox in VR if it wern't for 3 unwanted snowbank interactions.
Still happy with 2nd.

Pretty clean run in Wales too should hold the top10.

Jesus ****ing christ this Group A Escort. Spent a full 30 mins in practice trying to make a setup that made the car feel less useless, without much success. An absolute worthless 3:03 was all I could manage. Then, of course, in the daily... I took a corner about 20 centimetres (......) different from my safe line, to gain a few tenths 5 corners in... the cars nose took off (wasn't even a cut!), threw me into the bank on the other side and just... well what's the point proceeding from that?

Codemasters, why does this car not have any suspension?

Escort daily: Retired. First time playing DiRT this week, starting with a daily probably wan't the smartest idea :D Crashed off in the very beginning, reset, continued on with some sloppy driving, ten near the end missed the hairpin right before the bowl and got reset again. Ok, time to quit :D

Pikes Peak: I hadn't driven Pikes Peak for quite a while. I think this might be the first time I've driven there since I switchet to manual :D Anyway, the first run started off okay, but a bit slow (was downshifting too much for the turns), made some mistakes, a few crashes and about midway abandoned the run. The second run went better, a bit faster, no crashes, made it till the end with a time of 9:12 (my PB on dry was 8:38), so nothing spectacular, but also not bad for drivin pikes peak first time after a couple of months

Daily: RX - skipped.
Owners' club: Stratos, Vallée Descendante... in very slippery conditions. Interesting and challenging combo. Almost no grip at all in some places. I was on course for a 6:58, but lost the rear in a corner at the very final sector of the stage and only just managed to get it back. I think I managed to clip the wall with the rear, even... why I didn't spin is a mystery. Had to settle for a 7:00 dead, but to be honest I'm happy just to have survived this challenging car/stage combo.

Very lucky Escort daily with P1 yesterday, probably not really well deserved but whatsoever.. Tried the Mini rallycross the very first time, funny stuff these cars, had some mistakes, but happy to finish this event.

Here we go. Another daily where my driving was absolute rubbish. Wrong gears, wrong lines, forgetting where I was on the stage, bumping into stone walls... I regret uploading this time. My mind just kept wandering and I should have waited with this event until later. Lost a good 4, maybe even 5 seconds.

Dafuq? I'm still third in the wager event. And I really didn't feel like I did a good run.

Daily: RX. Nope.
Delta: 205 in Greece... default setup = hypersensitive steering. Did 3 practice runs in an attempt to adjust to it, without much success. A mediocre 2:55 was all I could manage, some 4 seconds off my pre-reset PB. Decided to push harder in the daily, using the handbrake a lot to make up for the crappy front bias brakes... but halfway through the hypersensitive steering messed things up for me yet again, so! No point proceeding.

I must admit that a rx win is nowhere near as satisfying as a stage win. Thats why I find this game more rewarding than other driving games (forza etc)

Daily: Sierra, Germany. Pretty ok run. A bit confused as to what gear to use in some corners though, since Codemasters still hasn't fixed the absolutely worthless default gearing in this thing... :p

Owners' club: M3, Finland. This would have been a nice run if I hadn't messed up half of the corners. Making a small mistake in Finland will set you back about 6 years so... instead of a 3:05, I got a 3:08.
