The Dirt Daily Thread

Recommended Posts

I like that some of the cars have a bit rough default setups in the daily events. Its fun to try and adapt to it.
The Alpine is way too touchy with the steering but rides pretty nice other than that. Everyone must still have more trouble in the rwd cars cause my run was pretty messy in a few spots, including an embarrasing over shoot of the hairpin in front of all the fans, but i'm still in 3rd.

A pretty smooth run in the Polo leaves me in 3rd there too so far.

Fun times.

Hypersensitive Alpine: Happy to have (mostly) kept the car on the road and brought it home. Currently 11th. Had a look in Crest and, indeed, everyone is dancing from side to side in their car, trying to bring it under control.

Polo: Practice run of 2:46. In the daily my mind slipped on the easiest part of the stage and the car slipped down the hillside. Retired.

Daily, C4 in Wales. The car with the ride height of a skyscraper. Again I do not know why I even bothered trying to adjust to this thing. I just can't go quick in it. A 3:02.4 was all I could manage after making mistakes in 95% of the corners, so it wasn't worth uploading. I wouldn't want to record that pile of dung.

But hey... at least it makes use of my 300 degrees of rotation. ARE YOU LISTENING ALPINE

Managed to survive the Hyundai delta daily in Finland, even though it suffers from a horrid waterbed default setup. Some really bad lines, but no crashing. So there's that.

Had a pretty rough but okay run in the Citroen/wales daily, really not used to this car though, seems so heavy or something.
8th place for now.

Disappointed in Finland though, had a good fast practice then clipped the rear going wide in a corner and busted the tire in the daily.
Retired.

Had great dailys today. Finland/Evo was a pretty clean run, took a few corners a bit wider, in one of those hit some kind of bush, no technical damage, but it completely messed up the front bumper and hood :D Currently 36th out of 1350

Wager also went great. Currently 10th :open_mouth:

Yikes. Going flat out in the Evo after a wonky landing put me straight into a tree. Dead stop from full speed.
Unlike real-life crashes, i quickly reversed and finished the stage with a cracked windshield and some steam.
Surprisingly still 8th overall.

In the Wager i had not one but seven super lucky moments. That car was tricky to handle. Thought i'd have top 10, ended up in 1st.
Hope it stays. :)

306 Maxi daily in Greece... made so many mistakes in the beginning, trying way too hard - because I have this funny idea that if a FWD car feels neutral through corners, you're not pushing it hard enough. So I pushed and pushed until I went over the limit. Not once, but twice. After that I forced myself to relax and focus on the lines instead. Anything above six minutes would be unacceptable. I managed a sub 6 min time, but only just. Shame about those mistakes as it could have easily been a 5:56, maybe even a 5:54.

Wager: Oh my.... many hits, one 360 spin and a crash with reversing just before the finish line. And this is good enough for P3 at the moment. Well well, what if...

Alright, there is nothing very fun about all those hairpins in a Fwd car. Yuck. Still managed 6th place somehow.

The Wager was awful, not fun and done mostly with no lights. Purposely rammed car into wall a few times but it wouldn't die.
Finished in 117th. Woohoo.

Have had some success with wagers lately. Put up $200k, misjudged first 3 right and into the trees I went.

Mk2 daily, Sweden. Night/snow = zero visibility. It mattered little. I gunned it. Some small mistakes, costed me roughly 4 seconds.

Delta daily: Stratos, Wales. I did not think I would survive this, but I did. I really gave it my everything and got away with a couple of misshifts and bumping into a bank.

No visibility., very little grip and a surprisingly bouncy front end in that Escort.
Kept it safe and finished. 2nd place so far.

A good practice in the Stratos left me with an overconfident run in which i lost control and crashed. DNF.

Escort: "Surprisingly bouncy" is an understatement. I thought I'd landed on a trampoline going into the first left 4. I never made that corner. I never made any of the other corners either. My run was more of a hybrid between pinball and a bobsleigh - if that makes any sense.

Stratos: Spun in front of the hairpin like I always do. Got ever so slightly off the line on the very bouncy straight and punctured. Lost the tyre completly on the following long straight. Retired.

Note to self: Don't drive when dead on your feet.

Daily 1: Countryman, Wales. Surprisingly painless. Just a couple of surprise understeer moments.

Daily 2: S4, Sweden. Slower than practice, which means the time sucks. I considered not uploading it after those idiotic mistakes, but eh. Whatever.

I wonder why.. there are 3 cars in dirt rally where I seem to be way more competitive with the same driving performance: Mini Countryman, R4 Subaru and R4 Mitsubishi. And I still haven't found out why this is the case.. And yes, the link to this thread: Mini daily in Wales went really nice, I was driving really careful and only lost 3+ seconds on a Swede who seems to be okay with his run :)

ps: I even won a sector ;)

Funny, those are the cars I hate most. I even stopped driving R4 cars completely.
Forget to name the 90es Escort, so that makes four. This is also a favourite of yours right ;) Well, one explanation could be that these cars require the least skill to navigate, but I'm not even sure about that..

The 2001 Subaru gets my vote for that one.

I wish you would always upload your lesser great times, it's exciting getting this close sometimes. :) Just one second off today.
It was a nice run though for me anyhow, kept calm and smooth. The S4 is one of my favourite cars in the game.

The mini cooper in Wales was pretty good too. 3rd so far.

Well this is getting quite tiresome.

Codies, please fix the hypersensitive steering of the RS200, thank you. I had a 3:03 in practice, which means a sub 3 minute time would be possible in the daily... if you hadn't made the steering so ridiculously sensitive that is. Wrecked about 200 meters from the start. I didn't even reach the lefthander.
