The Dirt Daily Thread

Recommended Posts

I made a few mistakes in the S4, was an okay run, but could have been at least 3 seconds faster, didn't feel like practising so top 10/20 will have to do for today, The Stratos went better, still made a few miss turns, but all in all not a bad time, could still be 3 seconds faster as I did in my practice run,  but I guess 3rd will have to do.

Daily: Hit everything that was possible to hit.
Owners' club: Two seconds slower than practice.

A sledgehammer and some porcelain could come in handy now to vent some of this anger.

Is it just me that gets spun around at the start of EVERY rallycross race? Literally a second after the lights go out I get rammed straight around, nothing I can do about it.
Do you mean PVP, or against AI? Never had that against AI. They might be in the way if you want /don't want to go into the Joker Lap in the first lap, but that is totally normal. I mean, they have to occupy space on the track.
The daily against the AI. Literally at the start, 3,2,1... lights out and immediately punted into a spin. Every time without fail.

This was originally a ragepost, but I figured what's the point...

But please, codies... do something about the RX AI in daily events. Double please...

Can you make a video of that? Would be interesting to see.
Of course they behaved themselves in today's daily, but were true to form in the custom event. Seems to only be Holjes I have trouble with, poor start but it looks like they all try and get to the same piece of track and just bump me out of the way. Clearly I need to learn to start better  :'(

Highly unlikely it will happen I'm afraid.  We complained about this for months in the daily challenges on Grid Autosport and they wouldn't budge on the possibility of increasing the AI level.  It's ridiculous, I don't even bother with the Rally X challenges due to the pure frustration of it.

Looks like I had a break from my bad luck streak in dailys (Spun out the Stratos in the first 50 meteres of the stage yesterday, flew off a cliff in the Subaru a few days before, messed up owner dailys with the Fiesta and 205). The current ones were kind of ok. Nothing special with the 208, but atleast a solid place in the top tier. And I'm currently 99th out of  732 with the Escort, and that was with a stock Escort, which I just bought prior to the event.

Daily: Pretty good. A few hiccups as per usual but no major time loss. Plenty of seconds to be had should people use the grass mid-stage though, so I don't expect this first place to last.

Owners' club: No drama at all, enjoying how easy the Fiat is to drive.

The Fiat is a beauty to drive. Cocked up at the usual place...

Daaaw... The BMW owner's daily - practiced twice, was pegged for temporary 2nd. Daily itself made a mistake somewhere where i rarely do it. Favourite track too. :/

Daily: Low fps, but the driving wasn't bad. A little run-in with the AI in a green Golf, but nothing major.
Owners' club: Pushed hard, but stayed out of trouble as well.

Well let's try something new.

Owners' club: Was fun trying out the BMW on asphalt after a long break, the car felt surprisingly responsive and stable for an 80's RWD (my view might be skewed by having lots and lots of fun with beast that is the Lancia 037). I don't even have all the upgrades to the BMW but it still seemed all right and had good acceleration. Lost a few seconds in the actual run from my best practice attempt but still not too shabby it seems. Had some trouble braking in the early run.

Not quite sure how, but I managed to be just under 10 seconds behind in the BMW daily :-D

Quite a bit better than my usual 20 secs slower. Yeay for improvement :-D

@FluxCapacitance If someone do both runs it displays the fastest time total, the slower of the two is always ignored for some reason. Maybe it needs looking into.

Simulant is a legit driver.

The runs for Pikes Peak showing identical right after finishing your own is probably just cutting resources, since you only need to save the best one for the leaderboard. Sure confuses people.  Haven't driven yet and just might not - tiring day, woo celebrating!

I just love Pikes Peak machines. It's so fun to take those beasts around the course.

The baseline setup gearing for fully upgraded 405 is not suitable for it at all, but at least the inherent understeer is not as apparent as it is with a vanilla version of the car without weight reduction upgrades (or maybe I've just learned to drive around it). It's not nice to have the car constantly hit the limiter even on short fast sections, but at least it's the same for everyone. : ) Nevertheless the actual handling felt good and it's amazing how well you can control the car in hairpins with some handbrake and throttle action.

My first run started pretty nicely without any hiccups but then I made few mistakes in the later part. In one tight hairpin I got initially a good turn-in but then noticed the car was still in 3rd and it just didn't want to rocket out of the corner as it usually does. Later on in one of those really fast right-handers I managed to pick up a tremendous amount of understeer and really had to fight back not to hit the ditch. Then I even got all the wheels off tarmac and almost kisses rocks at 200 km/h but somehow managed to get on track. In the end I was something like 3 seconds off Simulant's monster time.

On the second run I just went in full-blown maximum attack mode and it payed off. I noticed at ~5 minute marker I was 4 seconds off my first try and managed to keep steady through the rest of the track to post quite a nice time.

Now I'm feeling terrified while waiting for Porkhammer to post his answer.

Worry not, Urokhtor! I made a few small mistakes on my first run and set a 8:28.1. So, I went for a flawless second run, which funnily enough stopped at 8:28.4. Oh well.

Owners' club was funny. I only have 3/4 upgrades for the Sierra, yet was only one second slower than my PB. Don't mind if I do!

Currently second in today's daily. First run was rubbish (crashed out about 1km from start) but then did 8:28.146 on my second run. Must be the craziest daily ever, because that is EXACTLY the same time as Simulant's! And to make it even better, Porkhammer only lost 0.033 seconds!

Yeah it's quite crazy that top 4 are within a second in a long stage like that.

I agree, they are incredibly slow and stupid, if I try to take the inside line they just cut me off without stopping, they keep steering in, even if it means they crash themselves.
