The Dirt Daily Thread

I'm so happy that they have started running hillclimb dailies regularly. The cars are just so much fun to drive.

From past experience I knew I could get somewhere in the top 3 ground with a leisurely stroll across the mountains. It took some time to get comfortable braking hard with this car but in the end I again found some feel into how to approach corners with this beast. First run felt pretty average. I got wide in few places but nothing too bad and it was utter fun to approach the fast corners at the third stage with maximum attack mode. First run was 08:33.xx and surprised myself.

On second run I pretty much attacked the course from the beginning and made more mistakes, but luckily I managed to handle most of them pretty OK without losing much time. Luckily you can win a lot of time by carrying lots of speed into fast corners. In the end I chopped a second or so off the first run. Got to be happy with that result, but holy bat nipples that Simulant was fast! He must've made that car weep.

Myeah, first run shit because of a spin. Second run was slow even though I couldn't make the car go any faster.

Decided not to upload it. I need some serious tarmac lessons.

Did pretty well on both dailys. No major mistakes in RX, and the AI didn't pit-maneuver me right at the start, which is nice :d
Did do a roll in the 037 and had to reset, because I got stuck. Got a 9 second penalty for reseting and lost some time with the whole roll thind. But overall not that bad of a result, middle of top tier :)

I actually managed to crash out of both dailies. Who would've thought that a lack of concentration could have such an impact? hrrrr

Well, setting a new stage record on Bronfelen in the 037 made up for it. Almost. 5:54.119

Crashed out with the 037, but I did find a better method of practicing. My main issue has been consistency. I've crashed out of ~50% of gravel and dirt dailies which I consider my better surfaces. Normally, during practices my method is to drive the car to the limits and restart as many times as necessary until I get a couple complete runs. The down sides to this is it doesn't allow me to judge my speed accurately because I'm not driving with caution. I'm also less exposed to the later sections of the stage because I'm restarting so much. This lack of patience results in very inconsistent performances.

Today, I knew there was no way I could drive the 037 wildly and finish a run, so I switched it up and just drove the stage conservatively with the goal of finishing, as opposed to being fast and restarting when crashing. I was still a little impatient and only managed to complete the stage once after restarting a few times, but I do feel like this helped me quite a bit and I was happy with my pace. The only reason I crashed in the event is because I still needed a bit more practice. I'm sure if I were patient and finished the stage 5 times in a row then I'd be fine. There's probably merits to both methods of practice, but from now on, my goal in practice is to finish the stage above all else and take crashing a but more seriously.

I don't know how to drive the 037 at all, so I smacked the rear-end into a high edge...It's the only car I really struggle with in this game (and maybe the Gr.B 205!)

Try to play with the various parameters: camber, toe, differential .... etc etc have the right to control the dispensing machine

Hit a bank with the 037 and got a puncture right as I was entering the long fast ending of Bronfelen. Had to nurse the car to the finish in 3rd and lost a heap of time. Annoyed with myself as I got overconfident after managing the beast pretty cleanly for so long of the stage.

Reducing torque on differential keeps the insta snap rear away

Also softer suspensions and antiroll can help a bit.

Minor improvements can be reached touching camber and toes....

Daily: Can't go quick on tarmac in the Quattro.
Owners' club: Stage record in practice, crashed 300 meters from the start on the event itself. Hopefully my remedy for this whole no concentration business will arrive soon.

@Porkhammer , it's normal that French like the tarmac and be fast on it! Their main championship it's in asphalt, so they paly a lot in it!

I'll give you an example based on Portuguese RBR championships.
The Azorian guys we're terribly fast on loose dirt, like Japan, because that's like the roads they have there. As Madeira guys we're very good in the smooth tarmac. I was kinda good in snow, since I'm from where it snows in Portugal.

You will be a killer in the winter wonderland for sure hahaha. Well... you're kind of a buzz killer right now!

I'm Azorian myself and prefer the gravel stages over the tarmac ones, it's just preference because I got used to watching the rally here on gravel. Not terribly fast on either but still fare a bit better on the gravel rallies than on tarmac rallies.

This.

How the hell do you think that François Delecour was so fast with the 306 Maxi ?

Daily: Did a pretty scrappy run. I had trouble concentrating so once again braking was pretty bad. Still, it was interesting to drive with the Quattro. I've only ran one daily before with it I believe. The car is surprisingly responsive. AFAIK the real-life counterpart, although is the car in the game earlier or later version? They did make improvements to the Quattro to make it less front-heavy after Lancias started showing up.

I did pretty well on both dailies, still within the top 10, I still know I could have done way better on both, but didn't bother practising a lot.

Did 2 OK runs in 2 non-upgraded cars, happy enough with the outcome.  Do the dailies let your team upgrade your car yet or is that to come in the next update?

Both dailies will count towards upgrading your car.
Only the second daily upgrades your car. Because in the second daily you need to own the car. The first daily is free for all and has fully upgraded car for everyone thus not upgrading if you happen to own the same car.

Eh, clean runs, I don't do this track that well, and then there's the stock Audi setup messing with me

Only the Owner's daily upgrades the car that is used for the owner's daily. The normal daily does not go towards your upgrades, best way to upgrade your car is drive career mode championships, doesn't matter if you don't come first, the mileage is the key to upgrading, use the perks on your engineers to boost the upgrade speed towards a certain vehicle to gain your upgrades faster.

I'm I the only one who thinks the Quattros tend to lock their wheels too easily under braking with the default setup? I mean... f*ck! Can't tap the Z key (my brake) for more than half a second that it goes on a straight rage downhill on flames of hell!

Maybe if I was able to tweak it before I wouldn't have smashed all my headlight in the second chicane of todays Daily. That + spinning a couple of time sent me to 448th place overall.

On the other hand, the Owners went well. Of course, could have been faster, but not disappointed with a good 21th. Did noticed though that there were a lot 3:30~35ers
