Both dailies will count towards upgrading your car.
Only the second daily upgrades your car. Because in the second daily you need to own the car. The first daily is free for all and has fully upgraded car for everyone thus not upgrading if you happen to own the same car.
Are you sure on this?  I am pretty sure the free daily doesn't get you a car with upgrades.  I don't own a Quattro, but have played that stage in free practice before & scored pretty much the same time as the runs in the standard car.

Fully upgraded is generally 10-15 seconds faster on a short sprint stage

Almost never driven the Quattro before, so very happy with 17th (at the time of writing).

The pacenotes for Greece make absolutely no sense to me, so just getting to the finish line with all four wheels still attached counts as a huge victory for me.

Quattro on Pikes Peak mixed in rain... sounded to me like a holy land, and it sure was. As of the time of writing this, #1 time :D (9:12.627)

First run was basically checking what the default setup can and can't do on the rain, which resulted in death of some paparazzi's. Second run was clean and fast, aside from the pre-last hairpin for which I started braking too late and lost about 4 seconds going over the rocks. But otherwise, I'm very happy with my result even if I'm already expecting someone to go below 9 minutes mark.

Shame that not only is the Quattro's PP gear box issue not fixed, but it was also nerfed while the Peugeot's are in all of their OP'ness glory... I mean come on, the best times that the Quattro S1 E2 and 405 T16 did on Pikes Peak are 0,7s from each other. Then again, the Peugeot's in this game are generally glorified OP cars (some unspoken deal with Peugeot maybe?).

I was pretty sure that I checked the progress bars before and after doing a Daily 1 with my 2010 Ford, and it went up. But I guess I was imagining things (Well really, maybe I messed this easy task up).
It does count towards car upgrades, it just counts it after the daily has been done. You may have to own the car for it to count though, but 110% sure both dailies will grant you the progress to your upgrades. Heck, I never driven the RX Impreza aside from one daily and I have progress on the upgrade. Just remember that progress is saved after you do daily or finish an event in championship with the car.

Currently 3rd in the Ibiza! That's a new high for me!
(and a decent consolation after sliding out of the monthly on the third to last stage /o\ )

Oh God!
I just realized I have the last Greece stage and then Monte Carlo to finish for the monthly and the chances of me sliding out of it are fair to tearing my hair out :(

Daily: Decided to use clutch for this daily as my dead great grand uncle can shift faster than this Audi. First run went straight to fuck because the board underneath my desk that keeps my keyboard and mouse out of the way collapsed. 9:45 was my best effort. Second run was riddled with mistakes, every single hairpin in the final section had mistakes in it. For some reason the timer stopped at 8:53 though. Fine, be like that then.

Owners' club: Found a decent setup that made the Ibiza less of a fuckwad during braking, and managed a 2:38 in practice. Naturally I crashed on the daily itself.

I did fix my desk just now though.

Good job on the desk, i thought the Audi/Ibiza were yesterdays dailies?
They last for another 7 hours. ;) I was at a birthday party, it's why I'm a bit late to the... party. wat

I wish they would finally fix that issue, it basically slows me down by at least 5 seconds.

Well, I screwed up both dailies again, Subaru on Hell, Norway I jumped the start, had to Joker twice, still in 2nd position (atm) weird enough, with the Delta Integrale I crashed and burned, while in practice I put up a nice time of 4:03 I hit every bump when I did the daily, so yeah, definitely can't handle pressure, I thought I'd just start the weekly group B to eliviate some pressure by just going for it, that didn't go well either, I survived the first two stages, but on Frauenberg I ended up finishing with 1 wheel and 3 rims, I gave up after that with 1:53 behind, no point in trying. I need to cool off.

Daily: 2:26 in practice. 2:29 on the event. Why? Don't know. I was driving the same so... don't know.
Owners' club: Driving hard but also clean, no unnecessary risks. I noticed I tend to take said risks subconsciously on dailies, so this time I made sure I didn't. A couple of seconds were lost, but hey... I finished.

Daily: 2:37.0 in practice, 2:38.8 in daily.. I just can't adjust to this Focus in Wales. It has so much grip that sliding is next to impossible, and the brakes are way too effective. I never noticed this in Finland because I barely use the brakes there, hrr. Still, could be worse I guess. I'm happy to finish.

Owners' club: Not a bad effort at all... considering how poo the Grp A Escort is to drive. After a few tweaks to make it stop acting like a FWD car I was quite happy with it. If anyone would like to try the setup out, give me a poke and I'll screenshot it for you.

I had the same experience, it might be getting used too, but because of the short wheelbase it handles quite sensitively, together with the weaving from the new physics system I couldn't finish the stage, I crashed into a fence and broken my lights and rear wheel, I had to retire.

lol - I haven't attempted the daily yet, but the comments are making me laugh!  Attacking Wales jumps and corners as you would have before the update, doesn't work the same now!  Before, you knew where the car was going to stop sliding after a big throw, or where it would land after a slight flat jump, but its completely different with the new car.  I have been on the roof a fair few times yesterday after not taking time to re-learn my lines!

3:29 at Naarajärvi with the bipolar codriver is a miracle.

Totally desynchronized. Caos...

Currently third in daily, not bad at all. Although I'm bit dissatisfied with myself for losing to gheeD for just 0.033 s because I managed to mess up one hairpin and clip the right rear wheel at the edge of the track at the fastest point on the stage to unsettle the car and lose way too much momentum. Still it went mostly smoothly and the car was fun.

I really wanted to try Finland owners' club, but I have no updates in the car. What a bummer.

Yeah, the two slow 90 turns pretty close to end i managed to stall my engine by braking and handbraking at the same time... Lost 1st spot due to that :(

First time driving the Focus, have to say it felt really nervous there. Didnt like it very much and surprised it went even that fast.

Subaru is definitely my favourite over the Ford. The Ford felt bit weird to drive after it but once you got used to it, it was pretty OK. I guess they wanted to make the two cars feel different enough to make both interesting in their own regard.

What a shame on that stalling. Usually you can keep these cars going with sheer throttle, but hit the right combination and nothing can help you. It's apparent especially in the tight gravel hairpins in wet PP.

Today's daily was nice. A gravel stage I know by heart and a 4wd car. New physics feel amazing on gravel. 2:35 in practice but had an awful sloppy run when i did the event. No clue how I still managed to beat porky,...I literally hit a tree and couldn't get a flow. Maybe pork hit two trees?

Also pork, it's odd that you feel you can't slide on the new gravel because I've noticed the opposite. I have to turn, brake, slide into corners earlier to avoid over shooting. I do agree it still needs work though.

No, I just can't go fast if the cars are too grippy. It's why I was never super competitive in the 2010's, so I guess I have another class to be bad at. :D The cars are so smooth and so easy to drive that I just can't tell if I'm going quickly or not.

Maybe it's down to driving style. I just felt like its butt was planted all the way.

Was doing fine until the two high gates with log piles after them. Hit the logs a bit and punctured my rear left tire. That was about 70% through the track. Continued driving a bit more carefully, anticipating the tire to pop off any second, but it didn't. In the end managed a 3:09 (that was with no practice, btw)

I don't know about the Focus but the default Subaru setup has a really front-biased torque. The back end comes more alive when you move the bias back. It's not still crazy like the 037 but you can notice some difference. The car is still pretty planted but even with default setup you can put the car in a nice four-wheel slide pretty naturally. It's just not as rear biased as some of the cars.

Drove the upgrades for my escort rs cosworth, was going to breeze through to top spot on the event leaderboard but blasted a tyre on landing from one of the jumps... Needless to say i was pretty pissed having wasted some time upgrading that car and then failing the daily  :s
