The Dirt Daily Thread

I trashed my MK2 about 3 corners in.

I blame it on the fact that the driver position is wrong. Silly Brits.

Did the owners' club first. Drove very poorly, but the time was acceptable.
Practiced for the daily. Did 3 runs I think. Then I got bored of the broken physics and turned the game off before getting annoyed. Profit.

Focus: Smashed my lights in quite early on, and had a few other mistakes here and there, but ended up doing pretty well. God damn you, bushes!

037: Had an awesome run in this thing. Still not fully upgraded, but I finished in 47th global, but forgot to check where I placed on the actual daily itself.

Did the Monte daily now. It was a little easier to adjust to the broken V2 physics by simply pretending Monte was on gravel. Not superfast but doable at least.

With this Monte stage, i can definitely echo Pork's statement. It just sways side to side so much, with the Subaru 2001 daily the stage itself was more forgiving.

Yeah, I find that driving on black ice quite often has that effect....

Oh, so Germany consists of black ice as well? Because the grip levels are identical.

The swaying is the suspension, i wouldn't complain about the ice. I am unsure why it seems like the suspension.
Less noticeable on Germany, because very wide and forgiving. Only time i notice there is during the Haystack chicane.

Arena Panzerplatte

... the daunting Baumholder military ranges ahead of the monster test to follow. The roads are wide and there is a mixture of surfaces, covering smooth and broken asphalt, cobble stones and bumpy concrete. There are many junctions and although much of the stage is new from last year, the roads are not. The surface changes constantly and many roads are lined with hinkelsteins, massive concrete kerbstones designed to keep tanks on the military tracks. Slippery sand coats the surface in the dry while in the wet conditions become treacherous.

@Porkhammer....  We've covered this....   :)

I am aware of its real-life conditions.

What I'm saying is that V2 on tarmac is broken. Not even your black ice argument can excuse them. No car moves like that.

We are going badly off-topic here BUT....

Watch from 14 mins on if you are interested in how the actual '01 Focus drives (oversteers) on black ice/cold damp tarmac.  Looks fairly accurate to how the car has been set to behave in the game...

https://youtu.be/d2WnTlERIVo

We cant keep requesting that the guys fix broken physics, just because a few guys on here are of the opinion that your rally-car on black ice or broken sandy concrete, doesn't 'feel' like a McLaren Mercedes at a bone-dry Silverstone.  That's just not how it is or should be!

If we get the likes of Corsica and a 2010 Fiesta still doesn't feel as you'd expect on dry clean tarmac, we can push for a physics re-think.  Im not saying they are 100% perfect yet, but they are intuitive and quite believable, if you vaguely know the characteristics of the car you have chosen to drive in the game!

This escalated quickly. My liking for you is renewed and I therefore change my reply to "let's agree to disagree".

Still got the feeling that tyre grip levels are still somewhat set to values fit for the insane downforce v1 cars where less tyre grip was needed for it to even be able to lose grip at all. I hope they'll adjust it for 0.9 if that's the case.

Dont wanted to post here coz theres a place for it but:

V1.5 Physics are the closest to be the best. (actual Kit cars and Gr.B RWD)

As always, IMHO.

As I mentioned somewhere before, I always enjoyed the car handling and FFB in previous Codies games. RD has become my codies favourite but I bet theres much more to come.

Daily: A couple of close calls, but I'm very pleased to be within half a second of König's monster time.
Owners' club: Nice, clean run. The tarmac fellows and fellowettes will definitely hammer it into the ground, but meh. I'm happy with this.

Beat your time by 0,3s... in a practice. In the daily 1,1s behind you. Feeling good about myself, that a gamepad user can beat a top class steering wheel user... even if it's not on his "natural ground" :D

BTW, the time you scored was most likely 2nd fastest to date, so you're definitely capable of getting that WR, which means you're not gonna get hammered down ;)

Thank you for the praise, Ryu... but you'll see some sicko will come and set a 3:14 or something. Some folks just take to all this grip naturally and can find new limits while I just try to survive.

Currently 24th in the Sierra. I prefer to say I'm provisionally the second-best Brit ;)

It's quite an accurate game when the majority of the top 25 drivers are Finns.

Heh, you're welcome ;) Not many people are as fast as you are, especially on gravel where I am at best in Top 20 times xD Gamepad makes it really difficult to run flat out at the bumpy parts. So driving the Mini like you did in Wales is basically more of a matter of luck than skill in my case xD

If I would've a T300 RS or G27, that sicko would probably be me :D
It takes time, most important is to not force the car to do something it doesn't want to do. If you have the "flow" going on, the car takes corners by itself with little input from the driver basically. If you start getting understeer or oversteer, that means you're overdoing... well, in case of 2000s it's understeer or huge oversteer ;) (the rear wheels Toe in seems to be messed up, as it does the opposite of the description)

If you can, try playing Project CARS or Assetto Corsa, best with the WTCC cars like the Sierra Cosworth. They penalise you massively for the understeer and don't leave much space for playing with oversteer, so you literally need to find that perfect line in between to set the top times, at least in the case of PCars, haven't played AC, the graphics scare me off for some reason, feels like a PS2 game for me, in a bad sense of the phrase.

Urgh, crashed right out of the Maxi daily. I'm terrible in that car. I'm just not used to FWD with that kind of power... I love the look of the car, but it's just not my idea of rally.

Pug Maxi on Verbundsring.
Keyboard, 2 out of 5 upgrades, a car i... Don't know how to setup, to spare the harsher words, on one of my favourite stages.
8 seconds off? Success! I am.. quite surprised i was able to tolerate my car this well.
