The Dirt Daily Thread

Recommended Posts

Daily: Crashed. 2:36.5 in practice though which is good for me on tarmac.
Owners: Crashed. 6:46 in practice. Did some major tuning to the gearing and suspension. Also strengthened the rear diff a tiny bit.

Daily, i just came off an RX champ so it's pretty much the same, went quite well all things considered (namely that i'm not that fast)

Owners, yeah, i used to love the Sierra, since V2 i've not gotten on with it, however i was doing really well up until about half way where i clipped something and got a puncture, needed to suck the 1:30 for the repair, and just got into crashing, even an upside down one where i needed to use recover :(

Daily: unrehearsed & as fast as I was happy to go with std setup.

Owners: the Sierra isn't upgraded yet. & puncture didn't help my stage....

Are the differential (specially center) workinh ok in the scooby?

I set a heavy oversteer setup:
Center dif: 65% rear (maxed out)
Lowered suspensions
Rear toe: +0.60 / stif antiroll / -1.00 camber
Front dif very soft.

Its impossible to get oversteer from power over with this car nor scandinavian feint. I went attached to the hand brake...

A beautiful Subaru/Monte daily again  Utter Bliss. I have no right to be this high on that leaderboard.

EDIT: Finally uploaded the video, damn you internet.

It's feeling so stodgy and fat these days, really hard to carry speed or get turned in.

Oh, and Pitkajarvi is now officially my most hated stage in Finland....

Don't worry about me Andy. ;)

Anyway, my daily was error free. Now for the owners.

EDIT: I wanted to skip the owners' club, but then decided to go for it anyway. I couldn't do better than 6:22 in practice, so was hoping for a top three spot. Then, suddenly, 6:18. Why I do not know. I drove the same pace as in practice, and also managed to bog the car in two hairpins. k

Daily with the 037: Lost the tyre sounds halfway through the stage (first time that's happened) and had to back way off, as I wouldn't know if the beast was about to snap out it's tail. Disappointed, as I felt I could have done 3:20 instead of 3:26, but a top 20 spot is still mighty fine.

Owner's club: Currently 32nd in Finland with the Fiesta. Pleased with that. That's probably my level at the moment, as I'm not even close to memorizing the Finnish stages.

Forgot to mention that yesterday's dailies (037 in Germany, Fiesta in Finland) went smooth and I finished 1st and 2nd respectively. :D

Daily: I thought some of my lines were a bit off, felt like I lost heaps of time... but apparently it was a fast run. We'll see how long it lasts.
Owners' club: V2 tarmac... heh. Well, at least I made a nice setup that felt very, very good. I don't know whether my time was actually fast though. We will see what the tarmac folks can do.

Couldn't quite manage to get a clean daily with the 037 yesterday. I spun out and finished 37th...

Dailies... both V2 tarmac. Undramatic handling, cars are basically hovercraft. Driving smooth as one would in real life is really slow. The only way to be competitive on V2 tarmac is by handbraking and powersliding wherever possible. This is cool if you're twelve. It only occurs in hairpins and possibly tricky junctions in real life, however - other than that, drivers strive for a smooth and clean run. Not currently possible in-game. I should very much like to see precision driving make a return.

I agree, if I turn the wheel just a tiny bit it's like the car is drifting but going straight.

Looks like Prohammer loves the V2 tarmac feeling. I must say in fact looks like the more he play the more he loves it xD

I never saw a single comment from this man arguing about broken physics :p
-----

Yeah, maybe we won some good things with the V2 physics. Tarmac is not one of them :(
Loved (love yet) the V1 on tarmac. It has a grip feeling that V2 cannot offer yet on tarmac.

Cartman sums up my thoughts on v2 tarmac:

Sadly @KickUp likes it so I don't see it changing anytime soon.

I found the opposite.  For me, smooth and steady was 4-5 seconds faster than bogging down with handbrake and wheelspin.  & I still cant compete!!?  Maybe I should be like Mr Bean and start driving the car from a chair on the roof - lol

If you're bogging with handbrake you're not going fast enough. :P I was a full 4 seconds quicker than my old PB with captain america driving than the smooth stuff I'm used to.

Did you felt like the car had a gravel setup today?
It was like very long gearbox + really soft suspension...when I jump into custom event there's loaded finland setup...could it be possible that something was messed up and loaded my finland preset for daily?

Anyway I've ran the stage pretty clean with one-two small mistakes which for now gives me 27th place off to leader with +00:07.967

About V2....well it is quiet drifty.
Did anyone of you tried to make circles with V2 car (the one that drivers were making i.e. on  super specials after winning event - i don't know how to name it in english)? You end up 180 degress and stop. No matter what you do, you cannot do nice circles with throttle and left foot brake. At least I can't.

On Monte this evening, I have to agree that the sensation of crabbing round corners was definite.  4 wheel steer at its best...  As you know, I give it a by ball in Germany, but that was obvious in a wrong kinda way

I finally finished a daily, and with a decent time. Happy with 3rd in the Daily, but decided to go on to custom event and run the stage in the daylight, and went and set a new WR :D

I tried doing circles on the grass in germany
after a failed run with the stratos, does the same thing.

Your turn Erik :D
I'm too drunk right now to drive any kind of apparatus, but I'll try to beat your time tomorrow.
