The Dirt Daily Thread

Recommended Posts

Daily: Fairly smooth, a near wreck about 100 meters from the finish, but I got away with it.

Owners' club: The S4 is so much easier to drive with V2 physics, it is in fact rather pleasant to drive now - it will still smack you across the face if you get too frisky though - as it should be. 5:38.2 in practice, 5:39.5 in the event - I think this was due to some mis-shifts. Someone will definitely improve on this.

Finished 11th in the S4, quite a bit off the pace, but I thoroughly enjoyed driving it. Would have got a better time but for the fact it's the first time I've driven it since the new update, and I tend not to practice before the run!

Did clean runs on both of the dailys. It feels like the Pug and the S4 traded places. The previously calm and easy Pug is now a monster and the hell spawn that was the S4, has calmed down a bit. Just bought the S4 prior to the daily and without upgrades it drives just like a group A car, with an awesome engine note. Currently 120th out of 915, could've been better, but for a car with no upgrades I think I did ok :)
Had a good run with the sierra as well. Had to back down on some jumps, I've lost too many tires there :D I'm 152nd out of 3564 so not bad at all :D

Without the upgrades, it was very calm even in V1 physics. It got mad the moment you got it fully upgraded.

Manta - Greece. Finished 12th of 125 currently. I suppose I end up in the toptier.
Mini - Monte. Finished 32nd of 52.

I´m very satisfied with my run in Mini, mainly because in my age it´s more like slow in and slow out ;),-currently #1.

Don´t know how you guys manage to get the Manta over the finish line. For me it´s just donuts left or donuts right,-like lot of the other rear wheel cars.-can´t be many rally drivers alive in the world using those cars....

Drive it for.. lets say.. 300km and donuts will dissapear eventually; your time and pleasure catching oversteer will be highly improved :)

Drive, drive, drive and drive. And when you are tired, get in the car and drive a lot more xD and just then, you will notice you are in top 30.

Multiply this by 4 and maybe you will be in top 10

If you find Manta as a tricky car, dont even look into the 037

Damn, the Grp A Lancia is a driftmachine on tarmac with V2. Very very satisfying on a dry Monte stage.

Not so satisfying is that my driver looks like he is 89 years old.

Well my Manta daily went to fuck, as always seem to be the case when it appears in dailies. The practice was a breeze and I managed some 2:57's without pushing too hard. The daily went smooth until that uphill towards the end. Clipped a .. whatever it was and it just sent me flying off the road. The rage ctrl-alt-del followed.

Lady Luck is such a cunt.

So Manta you say...I've been driving it for first time, ended without mistakes but those hairpins were a sunday drive for me just to avoid a spin. Generally I suck with RWD :)

P.S. Also had some troubles uploading result but retry worked.

Hmm wager daily... I loaded my setup but had another brainfart and hit "start stage" instead of "shakedown". Ack. Well, to be fair... the run wasn't bad at all. I'm surprised at the time I achieved without the tiniest bit of warmup.

That's ok, Baconmallet, we're always surprised at the times you achieve.

I did the exact same thing. Except that I didn't have a setup, so I was intending to use a fair number of shakedowns as trial and error. Imagine my surprise when my co-driver continued reading out notes at the first split, while we stuttered along with a way too short gear ratio.
Anger and rage ensued, which is not a good thing on a thight twitchy road. Managed to bounce the car off something for a reset. Bottom tier and big loss of credits it is. Grrr..

Immediately redid the stage in custom with a default setup and set a time good enough for top 20. Double-grr.

To top it off the Manta got a puncture within 200 meters on god knows what, so that was a complete write off as well. Triple-grrr.

Tl;dr: Not a good rally evening.

You're not alone: http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/comment/137941

In wager I've cutted a left hairpin too much due to RH drive and punctured left front tyre. Further driving was pointless.

Well, both dailies went great, to squeeze any more time out would actually have to practice to hit the whole stage perfectly. The RS200 turned out to be quite nice to drive with a better setup.

Lancia - daw, a silly mistake prevented me from doing 2m 27s :( Recorded a video of me doing it in custom event instead.

RS200 - again, silly mistake, forgot/ADHD'd a trippy corner.

was absolutlry flying in the RS200 probably would of shredded top time then it decides to turn into a paper plane and fly away :D

rs200 has always been light in this game but with v2 it is like paper over jumps.

Yeah, wow. The RS200 will take some getting used to. Supposedly it was one of the heavier Group B cars, but at the moment it feels like it weighs 600 kilos.
