Black Screen and Nothing Else

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have a pretty straightforward problem: when I finish a race, after the positions screen, I press continue and there's always a 50-50 chance that the game will freeze in the black screen between the "saving" and the "loading", with the background music still playing. This goes on eternally and the only way I can get out of it is after shutting the game down with the task manager. When I restart the game it's like I had never played the race, so it's pretty anoying.

I'll be waiting for your wise responses, thanks a lot!

Edit: This is all in career mode

Also when playing online I get black screen freezes as well as message saying  ""you were kicked from the session"" after one race or two races in online multiple round championship lobby.   Career mode works fine. And this also after season 3 update.

I have a drop in frame rate from 96 to 76 average FPS  when benchmarking after the season 3 update.

I am running on I5 6600k and8GB RAM with NVIDIA GeForce 1060+ latest v445.87 driver from NVIDIA .My monitor is a gaming 144 FPS  running resolution at 1920 and all my graphics settings are at its lowest except Particles and light to achieve high FPS.

NB:Windows 10 Home 64-bit and version 1909!!! (build 18363.778). Doesn't matter what car or  circuit  or combination of any of that.  Career mode working fine only online playing that gives black screen or gives message that says you were kicked from the session. (It might be certain cars or circuits. I didn't use observation in that regard so it might  be possible). NB!!!!!!!>>>> Please take note that I had exactly the same issues at  release of the game and it went away after week or two after  patches.

NB: please help. This is my favourite game. I was waiting to put a review on this game after the last season release. I cannot give a good review if I cannot play the damn game online. I don't care about stupid career mode.

Thank you both for the information you've provided. I'll get this looked into. In the meantime, please make sure that your Drivers and Windows are up to date.

Oh right, sorry, I'm a bit of a newbie here.

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 CPU's)

Memory: 8,00 GB RAM

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750

I'll also add that I'm playing on the lowest settings possible.

Thanks again!

Hey @BerserkBaguette @PandaTonayy and @SpeedDemon666JJ

Can you confirm whether you hear any other noise (for example, engines, driving by, start lights) or is it just the menu music you hear? Does it sound like anything else other than the menu music is happening in the background?

Just Music for me - I could see my mouse when I moved it around the screen (could also access and use steam overlay) but any inputs in the game otherwise (Esc, Enter etc. button) didn't do anything

Not sure if it has anything to do with black screen problem but I found that sometimes my last used car used would fail to load properly (doesnt load at all) in the main menu background, banner preview, car select and once that happened the game could not close properly (cannot properly exit game, stuck the main menu background), load car livery editor, load race etc. - I figure maybe the black screen issue has something to do with the car failing to load? I only say that because I could also access and use the steam overlay when this happened.

Edit: Added video showing blackscreen with just music but also access to steam overlay - please let me know if its preferred in a different format; another speculation I have is it may be linked to certain events/tracks trying to load. Black screen happened on GT Group 2 Night Cup Event on after completing round 1.

For those experiencing this, do you recall which vehicle you were using and did you have custom liveries applied to it?

Engine sound from cars make  squickie funny sounds. Especially when they are being reved.
