Did you run the audio through your Spectrum Analyzer to confirm even frequency distribution?

🔉😎

I'm just really curious to know how this will sound.  I use surround sound, so I'm wondering whether it will mix well, or just sound like the car got cut in half.  🤣

Good point! I had to remind sms that one car in pcars 2 had the engine mixed only through the left front speaker... It was very weird to drive.. Like I was leaning out the back seat window haha!

Not sure if you can hear it in the Zandvoort video (because of the music) but the Honda in F1 2020 really rumbles and gargles off-throttle, you can almost feel the different parts of the power unit and transmission spinning round, doing their thing 🙂

Similar to 0:36 in this when the car goes through the right-hander:

You love to hear it! Thanks for the hard work and taking on the community advise for making the onboard sound more close to the tv mix.

can’t wait to hear the raw engine sounds without music.

Me personally, just waiting to hear the 2020 Mercedes 😍

Sounds good to me. A racing car engine should sound like what it is. A mass of over engineered metal parts bolted together around a continuous stream of barely controlled explosions. Highly flammable liquid is sprayed into that hellish metal couldren along with its favorite buddies, air and multiple sparks. The resultant cacophony is a chemical party gone wild screaming with almost uncontrollable power as it celebrates only inches behind your back.

Vacuum cleaners need not turn up for the audition...

Is the motor sound switch really included in the game?

Because it is in the game play videos, the exhaust sound is on the right and the engine sound is on the left.
That confuses me

Not sure I understand your question. Can you clarify?

Broadcast mix - We've created this toggle to turn panning on and off for the power unit. With this set to on we replicate the broadcast mix that separates the engine and exhaust channels. Engine will be panned left and the exhaust is panned right. It thickens up the sound and adds a lot of interest but it is not natural (although sounds the same as a TV broadcast when on) which is why you can toggle it on and off.

I mean the Broadcast mix.

Is an on / off switch in the game?

As my original comment mentioned, there is a toggle switch to turn broadcast mix on/off.

Ok, I think I'll turn it off, confusing when the two are separated.

That's why the toggle is there 👍If you want an authentic broadcast mix then turn it on. If you want the standard "game" mix then turn it off 🙂

But the game mix is more realistic you say?

Which mode do you prefer?

The game mix is the standard mix and it will be closer to what a driver would hear. The broadcast mix is arguably more interesting.
I was hesitant when we first created it but I prefer the broadcast mix now because it's far close to how the official broadcasts sound.

So it bothers me that the left ear hears something different than the right. Not so on TV 😉

Is the engine sound final? Or still in progress?

You don't hear a clear difference here with the Williams at ~0:54?
Left and right channels sound completely different.

I can't post the youtube video here so search the official F1 channel for "Top 10 F1 Onboards of 2019"

I hope the Monaco tunnel sound will also have greater impact soundwise when you are in the tunnel

This also depends on what camera you use. You will hear far more tunnel reverb in chase than on board.

What do you mean? The stereo/separated mic effect is exactly what they do on TV and they put the broadcast setting in the game to replicate this.

He just explained this stereo effect is what they do on TV and you can turn it off.
