peanutt2000 79 Posted April 29 I play on PS4 on pad on 90%. Really struggle with monaco. Any tips?
Sir_Overtakesalot 199 Posted April 29 The best thing to do if you're having trouble with a track, especially Monaco is to watch top laps on YouTube from whatever track you are trying, and really pay attention to where the individual you are watching is breaking, where they turn in from, what gears they use (if manual). I have done this and one main thing I learned from this was shortshifting certain gears in certain turns will gain lots of time. The main tip I can give is practice, practice, practice.. learn from what you do wrong. You can gain time by going over kerbs at Monaco but make sure 2 tires remain on the track or you will be penalized. Monaco is definitely not easy so don't get discouraged if it takes some time to figure it out.
sloppysmusic 1,650 Posted April 30 Don't worry most of us mortals struggle there. I consider myself to be fairly decent but I still have to drop the ai at Monaco like 30 points to not be destroyed. It's probably the most important track in the game to have the right setup that suits you. Just basically take the track apart corner by corner. See if you can optimize your speed through them one at a time. Use flashback as a great training function to keep doing the same corner over and over until you nail it. Especially do it on crucial sections where you can easily drop a second or more by not being confident. The chicane after the tunnel for example needs a lot of work to be quick and smooth so you get a quick exit after. But seriously, one corner at a time will definitely improve your game. Don't move on to the next until you're happy, confident and muscle memory starts kicking in. It might sound boring but getting good at anything can be like that. I'd sometimes say I'd treat myself if I knocked a whole second off my lap at a track. Like buy myself a CD for example. You're not actually getting paid a lot of money getting good compared to real life drivers so the motivation is extra difficult!
svensenk86 133 Posted April 30 Quote I play on PS4 on pad on 90% if that is your "mid" AI value which you use normally, you need to decrease it in Monaco as the AI is a bit overpowered there, besides they never make mistakes -.- same for Baku and Singapore. I'd sat work up to it, take a few laps to get in a rhythm and, for me anyways, try and not give yourself a hard time for a seemingly average-poor lap. Its happens at Monaco. I got a P5 in the Forum League by simply keeping it on the track and keeping my head down, as my pace was not great. Offline is a little more difficult, maybe tweak your difficulty as its such a hard track.

I’m not to bad at the driving aspect as in I’m not banging into the walls or anything like that it’s just the one lap pace that I really struggle.
BarryBL 4,314 Posted April 30 If I remember rightly, it took me a few solid attempts to find my outright pace. I think I ran most of Quali on Hards and then, once confident of how far I can attack and push the limits, then went out for my qualifying runs. I've ran a lot at Monaco, but it takes me a while to get into a 'groove' and then my pace usually follows from there.
