Whilst there are no plans for additional Seasons for DiRT Rally 2.0, some minor updates and surprises are planned. At this stage, the Rally team is now focusing on the future. By no means are we saying this is “the end” for DiRT Rally 2.0. Daily/Weekly/Monthly Challenges live on, Clubs are stronger than ever and you have plenty of esports action to look forward to.

Nothing’s moving in terms of your usual hangout spaces (the Forums, the fan-made Discord, Reddit, YouTube, Twitter) and your support team for DiRT Rally 2.0 are still very much here to help.

so with DiRT Rally 2.0 slowly phasing out in favor of future endeavors,

are there any chance of the Career mode being able to be played offline sometime in future , now in the covid days, may connection is saldy unstable which makes racing the career quite a pain :-(

I expect the next DiRT instalment to be similar to that of D3/D4 so I’m really hoping Outbreak from D3 makes a reappearance. It was such good fun. Would absolutely love a car game that you could just pick up and play on a controller and have some fun with. D2 & D3 provided just that.

I just have a question about dirt rally 2.0, is it that on pc we will one day be able to add mods of livery on cars in dlc?

This isn't going to happen, sorry.

"ripping out" online server connectivity from various game modes is estimated to be a multi-month long project because the entire game is built around it. In other words, not happening.

What is happening though is continued work on the DiRT Rally 2.0 servers; in fact, 2 big updates went out last week which greatly helped with capacity, as well as response time to server requests related to Clubs. Based on how this weekend went it seemed to be a big improvement.

But you are aware that this means we will only be able to play Career mode only as long as Codemasters keep this server running?

I’ve been playing wreckfest a lot, it’s the absolute ideal game for dirt 3’s party game modes! Still a really fun game to mess about online with and take people out

Sadly wreckfest doesn’t have cross platform either

No racing game does currently, except for recent Forza titles.

Closest is DiRT Rally 2.0's cross-platform leaderboards.

Rocket league? Just kidding, unlike all the game awards I know it’s not a racing game. I was bored during lockdown so I got COD for the first time in 10 years, I’ve been really enjoying played non cross platform with my friends on PlayStation, hope this becomes more popular in the future

As for the future of DiRT Rally? Well… we have a few things in mind. We have big plans, driven by a passionate development team, solely tasked with taking the Rally series to even greater heights. You won’t hear about that for a while, but when you do... oh boy, will you be excited for what’s coming.

Fingers crossed for Dirt Rally 3.0 and i dont see why they wouldnt make it. For being a rally game with a bit more difficult-to-drive-physics than your regular arcade game it seems to have done a good job to attract players from the more casual to the really fast guys. A great balance of both being challenging to making it playable for the ones looking for a more casual experience. DR2.0 is the game ive put the most hours in in the shortest amount of time, ever.

I've done cross platform on Street Fighter V before, helps with population numbers 🙂

I hope one of those surprises for DR2 is adding the Hyundai i20 RX. 😬🤩

That is the first thing I thought of when I read about the "surprises" as well!

Nicely worded post. Certainly isn't a flawless game but, in my personal opinion, this is the most complete DiRT game that CM have put out. I daresay the community has been instrumental in making that happen.

We can always hope! You’ve got a PS4 haven’t you? I got my brother DR2 a little while ago, he’s been doing some rallycross online. Could you smash him into a wall for me please?

This is a quite expected letter.

Still very disappointed, though.
"seperate studio", "brand new experience"...the gamer in me says "oh oh, some bs will come".
I expect a arcady DiRT 5 or (even worse) a DiRT Showdown esque spin-off behind those PR-blabla.
The more it is away from rally, so less interested I am.

The future of DiRT Rally sounds like we won't see a DR3 in 2020 and 2021 for sure.
I hope they really, really listened to the fans and make a great offline single player career mode this time.

We will see, but my expectation is extremely low now after this letter.

@PJTierney

Can you confirm there will be more patches after 1.14?
Does it still make sense to post a bug report?

I don't expect any content anymore, but there are still 2-3 (small) things I wanna see get fixed before the game rests in it's final state.
Would be cool, because it looks like I will play the game for another 2 years.

"Version 1.15 is in development, with only minor and essential changes planned, and is expected to release in mid to late 2020."

Yes

Yes but bear in mind that the majority of the team have moved onto "the future of rally", so expect further updates to be very light, even in comparison to 1.14.

I’m assuming the plan is to split the franchise up into two separate entities, like Forza motorsport and horizon. I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ve got planned, but I get the feeling that it’s probably not Going to be for me

The only 2 bugs that really annoy me are the stats bug (monthlies count more than 1 "events started" in car stats) and the broken windscreen mirror-effect on the S4 Rally (I posted in the bug report-thread).
So really small things, but with a big impact to my experience.
I stopped doing monthlies last summer to not ruin my stats.

BUT since the next patch is coming out "sometime this year" (lol) I think I give up.

I am thinking the same... but I'm not completely ruling out that the new entity might appeal to me!

Err...the franchise is already splitted into two: DiRT and DiRT Rally.
+ DiRT Showdown as a spin off.

For me the letter sounds like the next DiRT game won't have rally in it, so probably circuit racing in mud or something.
Wouldn't even think of buying something like that...just saying.

Yeah I know, but I mean a more obvious split. The series has been a bit all over the place since dirt 3. Spin off, a second spin off, a confused dirt 3 sequel, and then a sequel to the second spin off. They’re probably going to try and make it more streamlined

By splitting it again?

If they really want a 4th big franchise (after F1, DiRT and GRiD) they should change the name of DiRT and let DiRT Rally keep continuing the Colin McRae Rally history.

I will stick on DR2 and RBR if the new dirt is an arcade game. Rally do not need arcade game.

Why doesn’t it? Why can’t there be a game which is fun and you can just pick up and play. What’s all this BS that every racing game has to be serious sim. It’s boring.

Oof... great, sound like more half baked, big ridden console garbage.

Actually after all support and money... and trust I've given CM over these last few years only to be strong along and let down, it'll be fun to watch this ship sink.
