F1 2019 etc

Just out of interest, is there a method of installing WITHOUT steam for pc?  I went and tried to set up an account because I wanted to try 2019 and could not get the verification code email.  I have tried emailing codemasters support but all they do is tell me where to get hold of the program (Go to steam, get support from steam etc) and this is a pointless circular discussion they do not want to get out of.

I do sometimes wonder if what I type my end comes out as latin or something but that too is a pointless circular conversation, with myself........

A legal one? No. Even the DVD versions require Steam.

if it's a steam verification code you need then i can understand codemasters telling you to go to steam support. try a different e-mail maybe? make a g-mail or whatever for just this one purpose?

I understand your point, thing is, I have an email and the security that goes with it.  I have no interest in different emails and see no reason why I should so no way am I setting up an email with all the demands for personal information which is then mined from so called secure storage sites by some berk selling porn or using the information to send scam emails to.  One email address is quite enough.

No reason why you  can't just use one email and use it for steam. It's probably just something simple but finding out WHAT that simple thing is takes time. Personally I have about 20 emails but I used to work in IT so it's easy for me to use forwarding to secure my info. Plus it's easier to trace WHO has sold my data and only takes minutes to just delete an email and replace it. Bye bye spam!

" No reason why you  can't just use one email and use it for steam".

There is actually, some of us like a simple life and having one email is sufficient.  Being a bit older perhaps gives me that mindset but going through the whole ritual of setting up an email account for one thing strikes me as one of those "Life is too short" moments.  A bit like those who actually do "Peel" grapes.  Not going to happen, I detest behaviour modification in any form and for the purposes of a large company wanting to steal, market and sell "Me" for their bottom line is over the line.  What next, Fridges that decide what brand of milk we buy because of brand affiliations?

Not having a go, just pointing out MY limitations and logic.

LOL Mike I just agreed with you and you took it the wrong way!

I'm old too btw 👵😎

I said there is no reason why you can't use (your) one EMAIL and (AND) use it for steam.

I didn't say create a new one or use a different one!

I'm sure by now you understand. 😊

Been a long day mate, sorry for missing the obvious.  Stay well mate, you and yours.

I have tried using the one email and not getting the confirmation email means I cannot set up an account or get customer support from them.  I did wonder if this sort of thing would happen right from the off years ago but then again my tin foil hat is at the cleaners.  New tin foil slippers next week though.

I actually called the office and was told twice senior people would get back to me but nothing happens so I have little expectation that they will do anything at all.  Oh well, the real world and money making are obviously more important than customers and the IS an OXYMORON.  Customers people, you know, the people who buy products????????

Yes but talking to codemasters there.

BTW, 6 emails all replied to with answers to questions I did not ask.

I don't know what you asked obviously but to maybe speed up the process:
I can tell you here and now that there is no way of running the game (on pc) without steam. Maybe you can install it.. but to run it you'll need it anyway.

So the only way is to get your steam account up and running. And i know i am stating the obvious and i'm not trying to practice ageism here but you did check your spam boxes i assume 😉

And i totally get why you feel 1 e-mail is enough but just to be clear here: making a g-mail account takes about 1 minute, and when you have the steam account up and running you can change the e-mail to your actual e-mail and delete the g-mail if you want. It is more hassle than one SHOULD have to go through to play a racing game, but then again it is less effort than mailing to Codemasters support 6 times and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay faster.

@Bicarda

Makes some sense here. I know it's ANOTHER email but it's really useful today with everyone wanting your email even for a can of dog food to have at least one spare dummy email. You make sure it has no private info linked and use that one for subs and purchases etc and keep your original one private for family, friends or work. Then if you start getting spam on the second email you can just dump it and create a new dummy. It's kinda like having a po box but for the internet. Makes a lot of sense online and offline keeping the less important people separate from your home address /email.

These days we almost need customer support FOR customer support it's so unhelpful...

😩
