Career as an existing driver

Recommended Posts

Now that transfers are allowed, I imagine it should be possible to play career mode as an existing driver as well. It would be great to take your favorite driver and either improve the car to contend for the title, or take them to another team and make them champion. You could potentially even take an F2 driver like Schumacher into F1.

Adding to that, you could be able to pick the driver and team separately for other game modes as well and do a quick GP with Lando in a Ferrari if you feel like it, or any other combination.

@BarryBL Hoping this is already possible, if not this might be a good suggestion for the team to add.

Thoughts?

Hi @Worntoathread,

Although driver transfers in game that are dictated to a player can happen, being able to move drivers at a players discretion would pose a large licensing issue in real-life I'm afraid.

Thanks for answering, that's a shame but understandable of course!

Aside from career, a related issue I've had is that I'd prefer racing a full season with an existing driver over career mode, but due to the lack of car development this makes it impossible to compete with any other than the best team at a challenging AI level. If transfers aren't allowed for the player, perhaps (limited) R&D/car development could be considered for a full season with realistic driver line-ups.

Could you not do a career with a real driver but without driver transfers on?

I thought something similar, but then you'd be stuck with the driver's licensed team and it wouldn't really be a career mode.

I'd love to see the regular season mode have R&D enabled for that reason. In real life the performance of some teams improves massively as well and you shouldn't be stuck in the pecking order for 22 races.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve been banging on about this for last 2/3 years.
