there any way to know which version you have installed? It would not be bad to put a small on-screen text to tell the version you have.
Right-Click the drt.exe > Properties > Details
Current, good, version is 0.4.106.4288
Short-handed to 04.1

Then I'm updated  :#

But I agree with Cranck on this one, would be nice to spot the version more easily, like Simbin's GTR Evo...  :)

Anyway, even if it was for internal testing, I'm pretty positive about the handling of the cars, and the new tracks look amazing!
Way to go Codies!

So, just wondering...

The patch has been released and then pulled off, right? I downloaded only the 1.6 GB update to my laptop, and it didn't change the build version of DiRT Rally. Now my desktop, the main gaming rig, haven't even download the 1.6 GB patch.

Is this correct or did I screw up by opening Steam in both laptop and desktop at the same time?

So sorry for the folks who got their profile corrupted. But I'm glad Codies is showing good moves to fix it!  :)
Yeah the 4gb one was pulled, don't know about the thing with your two laptops but it shouldn't have screwed anything up. In theory the 4gb wouldn't even load now so try booting you copy up and if it isn't up to date it will start updating. (obviously just make sure your steam isn't set to offline mode and that you have an internet connection)

@justbiglee any news if corrupted savegames can be restored by codemasters if the methods that others already posted here doesn't work for you?
I really dont mind if it cant but like to know that so I can resume the old backup I found or wait a little bit to see if it can.

I for one have learned my lesson again and do what I always did with codemasters games and that is make daily backups of youre saving.   ;)

For those of you that have had a corrupt save it would be useful for us to get hold of your save file as it could really help us out in the future.

If you've not overwritten your save yet could you please do the following

Go to where Steam is installed on your PC

usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<USER NUMBER>

You'll then see a folder called 310560

Right click on it and select "compress to 310560.zip"

Email that zipped folder to dirtgame@codemasters.com

Please use the subject line "v04.1 corrupt save"

And hit send.

Again we're sorry to everybody that it happened to, we're hard at work today putting something in place so it doesn't again and thanks for being so understanding.

(I always knew you guys were cool)

So, just to be clear, if i have corrupted savegame it means im doomed to start over or do i have any chance?
You've got a shot. Go into your Steam userdata folder
eg C:\Games\Steam\userdata
You should find a single, numbered folder within that. That's your profile, so open it up.
You should have a bunch of numbered folders, each one representing each of your games.
DiRT Rally is folder number 310560
You should then find Local and Remote folders. One of these folders should contain your save game AND a backup save.
Backup the backup, and then you can try renaming that save to replace your original, corrupted/wiped one.

Provided you didn't run the Tarmac Terrors beta update multiple times, that's your best chance of getting your data back.

here is exactly what you do

go here \Steam\userdata\SOME NUMBER\310560\remote

then right click on the folder to restore it will show you a earlier version . mine was from a few days ago. copy the contents from the folder and simply paste it in to replace. it will ask are you sure you say yes.

then you fire up dirt and your old stuff should be all back to normal. mine was.

Thanks for trying guys, but no restore point available nor the renaming thing worked.
Just mailed the folder to Codemasters.

Can't see any mention about this...does this patch address the force feedback? Or are we still waiting on a future patch?

I believe there are some on the forum somewhere, I managed to make some videos of all the cars driving on some of the new (finished) stages of germany, looks pretty awesome, and didn't notice the levels not being finished.

Well, I've overwritten it since I wanted to play so I guess my save game is gone, I'll start over it's okey, gives me the chance to get to know the stages, it's about skill anyway, and already got the achievements I wanted

Pretty sure achievements are saved with your save so they may be gone.

Unlocked achievements are saved directly to your Steam Profile. Same with achievements/trophies on Xbox/Playstation.
Once you've unlocked them, you can't 'lose'/re-lock them.

is it just me, or is the transmission for the Escort RS in the 90s class also a 7-speed transmission now ?

The Escort Cosworth always had 7 gears.

depend on the version, late 90s car had a 6-gear x-trac transmission.

Fun to see that they included that transmission, but sucks for me since I do not have a 7-gear shifter to use (real car had actually a h-style shifter for that transmission)

One in the game has 7 speed, real life had the option of 5/6/or 7 depending on the event. In the end the factory cars just ran 6 speed.

Also, the Impreza in the game has 5 speed but real Gp, A car had 6.

Well now the impreza have 6 speed in game as of the latest patch

Same thing for the Delta HF

One thing that should be corrected in one of the next patches :

Audi Sport Quattro transmission, it actually have a 6-speed gearbox, unlike the A1/A2 Quattro that do have a 5-speed gearbox (AFAIK, it's the Sport Quattro that is ingame)

That's annoying, it means I definitely haven't downloaded it yet. Any body got a link or can tell me what I've done wrong, lol.

Edit - Nope, Update is right but the Subaru is still 5 speed.

The Sierra Cosworth is stuck in 1st gear . . .
I noticed that while playing last night too. I use semi-automatic, so I can at least just shift to 2nd for now.
