Customised HUD for Consoles F1 2020 - Confirmed

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

@BarryBL The new virtual mirror sits far too low for t-cam users, will console users have the ability to move the virtual mirror up. I understand why its in that location as the safety car banner and penalty information etc appears above it in that location but it would be better if we can have the virtual mirror at the very top of the screen like most games and have the safety car banner etc appear below it.

The virtual mirror should be at the top of the screen not in the middle, the mirror should sit where it says 'work in progress' I already have had many complaints from league users viewing the video, that its too low.

I'm hoping the consoles will finally have the HUD customisation options the PC version has. Would be great to move some things around or make them more transparent.

Everything does seem a lot more bigger this year in terms of the hud elements, even the default camera views from what I can tell look a bit more zoomed and bigger taking up more screen space.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve added more customisation options this year for players to get the game looking how they want. Particularly if they’ve implemented the rear view mirror. Would be a bit of a shame if they haven’t given us the option to position it where we want as many players have different preferred settings for cockpit cam. Be intrigued to see.

The mirror sits far too low, every racing game has the mirror in the very top of the screen. I know the game has information banners but they should just move those to where the mirror is and place the mirror at the very top of the screen where it says 'work in progress'

As you turn corners it almost gives you a type of motion sickness because the mirror is sitting in the middle of the screen in your direct eyeliner as you look to apex with stuff moving as your turning the corner

@BarryBL I know your really busy right now, but can you pass this info onto the team as i'm hearing from a lot of people this is a 'game breaker' for them after wanting a mirror for so long

Hi @TomAAA,

Thanks for your post.

Currently, this is a 'Work In Progress' build and still subject to change, and further improvements that may be already planned, that I cannot confirm or disclose at this time. I will take the immediate feedback back to the devs though. I think the term 'game breaker' (outside of the old-school FIFA street reference) is not exactly the correct terminology, but I can certainly pass on the response. I also would add that playing it and watching it does feel different from my 2020 testing/hotlaps. (Well, I'll admit mine are more 'slightly warm laps' compared to some of the guys here)

@BarryBL thanks for passing it on. We tried in other games that allow moving the mirror, we moved it to that middle location and it is distracting, that's why all other racing games have it at the very top of the screen. Seeing the video confirmed this. Having it at the very top of the screen or ability to move it there would be the ideal solution

Unless that is photoshopped, that is a shot from PS4!! Customisation on consoles?? Yay!

EDIT: Also, 5 drivers in the table?? Was it that last year or just 3? Can't remember but anyways 5 is good!

It can't be on the PS4 though: media only have PC (steam copies).

And yeah the 5 drivers in the tower is a cool addition!

Curious question. As well as being able to move and reposition the HUD elements can we also adjust the size of them? Could be wrong but I remember a video from last year where Aarava had made the session timer larger for the practice/qualifying sessions?

EDIT:  I’m guessing this is true as I’ve just quickly checked the video from Codemasters last year showcasing the HUD customisation options and noticed there’s a “scale” option that changes the size of HUD elements 👍

I'll change the title of the thread so others can see the answers if wondering.

Will it be available in F1 2019?

No. Coming to 2020. Customisable HUD for F1 2019 is PC Only.

Customizable HUD is essential to play competitively. I always wanted to look at the green speed bar and red brake in the middle of the screen, so I don't need to look at the corner of screen and I can brake smoothly in curves.

Thank you, Barry. I hope F1 2020 will be a success. I look forward to buying.

@nksrfn, Please add any questions as a new topic, and try to refrain from jumping on others. I will hide this and related posts and please post as a new thread. Should you wish to discuss and suggest, please do so on a separate topic.

Remember, like always, work in progress and subject to change. I'd recommend waiting until the game has been seen in modes for that.

@BarryBL But what about the official broadcast graphics? These HUD is completely different and chaotic then official graphics... for example why do we get three different overlays for lap counter / my own current position, timer of session and flags. We should have it on the top of the position tower on the left hand side as in reallife. If there is a yellow flag >> session timer should change to yellow sector >> green flag and back to the session timer. It looks so bad and has nothing to do with the official boradcast style what we want since years… What about all the 20 drivers that are not shown on the left hand side??

Sorry I assumed the X and O buttons in the bottom right were PS4 only. Thought for PC they'd be numbers or letters?

Sorry @FIE, this is a different topic and should be added in the correct threads. Please do not jump onto a different thread topic as it is unfair on users who want to know about the HUD. Also, again, all subject to change and work in progress.

I hope not to see this on more threads moving forward.

The rear view mirror is a huge plus.

And reports from my old mate on YouTube (no names mentioned lol)  but he saying f12020 is a huge step forward

I hope so plus Barry has his pc f12019 online league. which means bugs can potentially be addressed quickly as he can see them directly.

The amount of times I would press the button for looking back  . I don't have to  do that anymore.  Yay.

Little things make all the difference.

So far the reviews are very positive.

With most games on PC when you connect a ps4 or xbox controller, the icons change to that controllers inputs; i dont know about f1 though
