Montreal F1 2015 Screenshots

Recommended Posts

The reason the new wheels are not in the photos is because the cars are based during pre season, it will be updated when the game has launched.
Trust me, I saw it on twitter

I agree, the steering wheels will be updated. I'd also like to see a bit more steering lock.

The Red Bull and Williams definitely had the new steering wheels with the LCD display during pre-season testing. Without a doubt, so I'm not sure why they're not looking as they are.

The last couple of screenshot reveals I find myself more irritated than pleased though. Don't get me wrong, the screenshots look good, and wet weather in particular looks immense, but it's not the same as some good ole' gameplay, which we've had nothing of. Like actual video, that properly tells you something about the game. We have seen 20 seconds of  'official' gameplay so far, and that was a little teaser trailer that didn't tell me anything really about the game, and that's absolutely pathetic.

I hate to rant and I feel bad doing this as I love Codies, and I think they've made some great games in the past. I also feel bad as I'm a moderator for the Codemasters Forums, who make the game! But I find it hard to believe just how little we've actually seen of this game. Screenshots reveal like 10% of what to expect. They can be edited, refined, etc. A video reveals so much more.

I thought this was meant to be a new direction for the game? It should be, being on new-gen consoles, allowing updated graphics and physics, but so far it looks like an update on 2015. I'm not convinced.

The only thing that can change that opinion is if we see some actual, proper gameplay. No, not 20 second trailers that switch cameras every 2 seconds. I mean something like a developer diary, or a 3 lap on board race, without the silly off-board cameras. A delayed livestream would be perfect! I want to see what the handling looks like. Convince me that this game is new-gen and actually a new start.

I know it's been said that a lot of the lack of stuff shown is down to FOM, but I can't believe they'd want to restrict all this stuff about their F1 game?!

The game has been announced for like 10 weeks now and we've seen about 20 screenshots and 20 seconds of video, which hardly shows off the game. Unbelievable.

I'm more of a lurker here but I'll be one of the few to say the screenshots look great and I'm looking forward to the game!

The negativity here is astounding however. Is this representative of the base of F1 fans? Surely not. Indeed, it's not normal for a game developer to not release more information prior to launch, but the entitlement and constant complaining won't help anything. There's very likely a good reason they've not released any more media than they have and even if not, it's their decision to make. Their games have been good enough apparently for most of you to keep coming back here so in spite of these childish threats of canceling pre-orders or waiting till it goes on sale or not buying the game at all. I think we can all agree each of us will buy it and if not, why come here? Don't you have anything better to do with your life than sit on the internet and complain about something you have no control over???  It's just a game and if this is the biggest thing any of you have to worry about in your lives I'd say you have a lot to be thankful for.

Anyway, I don't think we're in any danger of complete failure even if our precious career mode is gone. These guys likely have as much of a passion for F1 and are putting everything into the game to ensure they deliver what will be, for most of us, the best F1 experience short of actually getting a drive in a real F1 team. Obviously, they'll never deliver the perfect game as it doesn't exist because all have different ideas about what that would be, but the screenshots clearly show that they're striving for some semblance of perfection nonetheless and that's the most any of us could ask for.

Yes, good goy. There is a good reason why we haven't shown you gameplay. Don't worry, we can guarantee that the game is brilliant, trust us and place more pre-orders. Wouldn't want to miss out on that Race Like a Champion guide now would we?

Everything you're implying is pure conjecture. Negative, baseless opinion at best. The logic of Codemasters not providing more info equaling pure fail does not follow and is therefore a fallacy. By the way you must be a blast at parties...

and I'm sure you're a natural at Simon says. But that's besides the point.

People aren't saying that Codemasters lack of info = a bad game.

People are finding it suspicious that a company isn't advertising a game that comes out in a month. They did a better job hyping 2014, which was a rushed job many people were disappointed with. But now 2015, the game that is supposed to have had a lot more development time put into it, and we know just enough to fill a blurb? It's suspicious.

As consumers we don't owe Codemasters our loyalty. They produce a game and we pay for it if we think it's worth our money. After 2014 there is no reason to pre-order their next effort. And what little info we have been given doesn't give the most compelling argument for pre-ordering a game.

Everyone here wants an F1 game we'll enjoy. We're just anxious we're not going to get it.

I actually agree with most everything you said. I don't know if I'd call their lack of info this far in suspicious - maybe interesting at best, but again, so what? It doesn't necessarily mean anything. And if somehow they've gone and mucked up the physics, the handling, or some other important detail, don't you think they'd fix it? They've been pumping these games out for years now so they're certainly capable. Plus, it's clearly in their best interests as that's how they make their money. Which again brings me back to my previous point. Why all the entitlement and negativity from everyone? I don't understand what that's designed to accomplish.

Well based off their previous effort, then no I don't think they would fix it. The whole fiasco with the Pad vs Wheel with the traction control, never being patched, and also the fact that on F1 2014 it's near impossible to lock up your brakes. There was never a patch for that game. This is the basis of my argument, based on Codemaster's recent entries, there isn't enough confidence to warrant a pre-order.

The 'entitlement and negativity' you mention is coming from the fact Codemaster's are offering pre-orders, telling consumers they can pay £40+ for F1 2015. But we still don't know anything about the gameplay, the handling, it's all just screenshots and PR releases from Codemasters themselves. It's to show Codemaster's that we're not happy with the way they are going about business.

If everyone pre-orders the game the people in suits at the top think that they're doing a good job, and everything carries on the same. If people don't pre-order and say, no, what you've told us so far isn't worth £40 of my money, I'd like to know more please. Maybe the people at the top might pay closer attention and change their business practices

@MarkDavis94
Then yes, don't pre-order. I didn't. You make some good points too. My best guess is bad strategy/timing with regards to moving to next gen. 2014 was a perhaps casualty of them focusing the efforts of their likely small team on the new 2015 engine? No idea but I didn't buy it so that's one way of sending a clear message to investors/stakeholders, right? No reason the same can't be done for this years offering.

@Operator1
Yeah, I don't buy into that argument. Mainly because first of all I'm not spreading negativity in each and ever thread in this forum like those I'm accusing. I'm addressing it here - so sorry, no pot/kettle situation here. And second it'd be quite a conundrum for anyone to talk about the negativity without coming off like they're complaining. Finally, any claimed hypocrisy doesn't invalidate the truth to what I'm talking about. Though I'm sure you've got an internet meme on your hard drive sitting ready for retort...

Do you guys really think that the game looks "next-gen" and that step foward graphically?I don't know if it's just me, but looks an updated version for the same consoles...I was expecting a bigger step since they're using new hardware..

I would say be wary of screenshots of racing games as they are a game intended to be played at a very fast pace so a screenshot may not do it justice. So I'd wait till seeing the game in motion before making judgements on the graphical fidelity of the game.

The RedBull is a 2014 car but in the mirror you can see a 2015 Lotus. What a mess.

You seem to be new here.. so lets get you up to speed.. You would not call it suspicious at all that a company that is so "capable" as you put it still has no info to give its customer base? interesting? maybe.. but only the epic failure this game is set to have in its release. The reality of not having any information at this point in time is disturbing.

That is because they are expecting us to pre order a product we know nothing about. thats is very shady and disturbing to anyone who is a consumer of any product. Everyone likes to research and know information about what they are buying... therefore people can make a informed decision if they want to buy the product or not.

Also about Codemasters fixing things.... based on buying every F1 title they have ever released since day one  Don't count on it. Some titles have had zero patches and been abandoned.... due to "we are working on the next title" so too bad.

In conclusion... I don't know about the rest...  but what we are trying to accomplish is quite simple. Not get screwed for the 5th time.Get what we want... and most important make sure that they are going to do whatever it takes to perfect the game when it need patches. Get some answers to important questions we have been asking... we have been totally shut down by Codemasters, there is zero communication from them despite our best efforts to open communications in order to work with them to make a better game by giving suggestions. They have lied a whole bunch too... someone else can fill you in about all that.  So yeah there is a lot of negative vibes here... some of us been putting up a fight for what we want for 5 years now. So to say there is negativity here... its an understatement. We are done asking nicely. its time we gave them a good slap. If  I where to tell you about it all... you would be reading a book. So anyways... if that does not answer your question about the negativity here.... i don't know what else will

Those screen shoots above look nice but its not enoughto make me want to rush out to pre order the game.. there is so many questions they need to answer first.. its crazy..

Codies cutting corner's again... doesn't surprise me attention to details is not their forte! seriously is that too much asking to get accurate and authentic steering wheels for each teams.

Final day one stuff, yes, probably. But we've already been promised car updates throughout the season, so will just have to wait and see.

They've already confirmed that the steering wheels will be updated in later updates. As for the RedBull it looks like 2015 because of the position of the solid purple on it.
