The Dirt monthly thread

I learned something today...

I was driving quite cleanly. On the third stage (I think, one of the long ones), near the end, I nevertheless made a small mistake and ended up stuck at the side of the road for about 10 seconds. Then I found grip again, reversed and went on. From that point I just went flatout and to my surprise managed to stay on the road. I took more risks in the remaining stages and was substantially nearer to the top.

Seems my approach was much too conservative up to now...

Just completed the monthly and managed to get @Porkhammer on the final stage, had to drive my nuts off as I had a half spin on SS23 which dropped me 3 or so seconds, even beat @ji1 on a couple of stages. Had great fun doing these last 6 stages, car just felt awesome!

Well, I was in 22 stages, doing pretty poorly at 14 minutes behind, when I crashed into a tree and apperantly died, I think my stratos burned to a crisp because I couldn't repair it for the last 3 stages. So, I'm dead and 36 minutes behind. What a waste of time...

You can reset the event if you're not happy with your driving. I would do the same if I could be bothered driving 24 stages.

Yeah, and that's why I'm not bothered, only thing I'm bothered with is that I can't retire that one stage, repair my car in the meanwhile and prepare for the last few stages. That's my only concern, I wouldn't mind if I crash out, but that is kinda weird because in real WRC rally they have backup cars too.

Firstly, this isn't a WRC game ;) although I do think have a superally option and being able to retire from a stage (with a 15mij penalty) would be a good idea.

Second, in WRC the crew only have 1 car for the whole rally. So if they crash it's up to the service crew to fix it, but if the roll cage is damaged then it's retirement straight away.

I guess I should just practice every single stage then before attending it in the monthly rally like everyone else, Think I'll just skip the monthly rally if it's rearwheel drive, I really can't drive those things.

What's wrong with the monthly? I'm halfway through and on every second stage it says "event expired" and throws me back in the event screen. The monthly shows the correct time, but when I press details, it only shows times for every other race :(

Stupid Col de montée de Colini or whatever it is called. Towards the end, there is a 3 left or something that gets me so many times. I just slide down the hill, and instant retirement. So this time, the monthly ends for me on 20/24.  :'(
Next time ALT+F4 it and will not save your progress
Once you reload the game you´ll be on the same stage.

@F2CMaDMaXX fear not, padawan. As long as you believe in the force, and drive within your own limits, you will finish without issues.
Yeah, so, if you ever saw Colin McRae drive.... so, i have trouble building up to a point, i tend to back off to the point you need to be at.  Makes for many bent things. :)

As I remember I screwed up Germany cuz I was lowriding thinking I'll kill my car anyway or won't be in the first row, but then I did really good in Wales, OK in Greece and awesome in Monte Carlo which was surprise to me because I hate this location and I often lose to AI times on it. On one stage I've got a puncture on rear wheel just before snow/ice section before the finish, which is good because I didn't lose much time. Overall 15 place as I remember, if I pushed harder in Germany I would do better time. Also didn't like Impreza handling, better took Lancia.
