The Dirt weekly thread

Recommended Posts

Thanks a lot! I can definetly improve my lines! Not to mention my driving. I dread to think how I'd handle that "bouncy castle" effect. Tree tops ahoy!

Looking forward to trying this out later! Thanks again!

Went into a fucking immovable bush just on the outside of the road on the LAST stage, and it took out all my lights, and then a few corners later I got a puncture for the lulz. Fuming. Fix the bushes, please  :'(

Specifically for the Finland part of the 2000s weekly I practiced both Hamelahti and Pitkajarvi at the same conditions they were in the event so I could drive them one after another without a crash in a Top20 time fashion. Well, seems to have worked, since I'm currently 1st in both weekly's xD

First time driving the 2010s after the V2 handling kicked in as well. I sure love me some Monte Carlo <3 Shame I got a puncture in the daily...

Expecting at least @Porkhammer to completely demolish my times in both events though :D

Just did my 70's weekly in Germany, but will probably re-do it later as the unrealistic crab-like behaviour of the car is even more apparent here, resulting in minor crashes or mishaps on five of the six stages. Not happy at all, so yeah. Might re-do it later and try to adjust to this.

The only thing i'm feeling about the way it 'crabs' is i think it happens too much at lower speeds.  In particular i think it is starting to step out on too low of a throttle opening, but otherwise reacts alright.

No, cars 'crab' at high speed on tarmac, but you shouldn't feel it as pronounced as you do in game, and as i said, it starts too easily and at too low of a speed.

It shouldn't crab at all, that's the problem. Look at some Stratos onboards.
I'm not sure what you mean by crabbing. As you can see from my tarmac times in relation to you, compared with gravel, I obviously do better on tarmac. The cars seem to have endless grip to me. Only at Germany do I get anywhere close to your times.

Crabbing as in... going sideways like a crab when it has grip. It's not sliding, it's just crabbing. It's a bit like it's shuffling to dodge an incoming spear towards its nose. This occurs at any speed - it's stupid and ruin the entire tarmac experience. I can't drive worth a damn because of it.

EDIT: I guess one can also refer to it as sidestepping? Whatever it is, it makes me sad in the face.

40 seconds in 6 stages I've lost. That Kadette is far too quick. No way should it be beating the Escort by that much, I had damn near perfect runs too.

Did both weeklies without practice, as usual (dont try this at home, it never ends well xD)

uhh.. 70´s + MK2. Nothing new to say, feeling kinda lunar gravity, crabbing, low grip, jelly suspensions (even maxed to hardest). Meh, top 20. after finding a decent & more responsive setup...just for the last couple of stages. I´m not restarting though.
The Mk2 on gravel is one of the most enjoyable cars of the games, on tarmac haters gona hate.

80´s. This time I choose the M3. this cars a bit faster than the Sierra I think (reached speeds >220km/h at Finland). Meesed up on both Finland stages; cant drive with the broken pacenotes, got to mute the guy and drive just by what I saw. Semi decent runs at Greece and top tens at Monte. Around 15th in the end.

Loved the fact you cannot save progress (except services areas )

@Rallycameraman What you on about? It's the Stratos that got the Mk2 beat.
Don't tell him, he'll be really puzzled as to why the Kadette doesn't work for him lol

Well that's even more annoying. I couldn't see what car you used as I looked at the times on my phone and doesn't show the car.

How can you compete with Ferrari power, in an ESCORT??  lol

In reality the Mk2 was/is the better car, although on smooth Tarmac the power and handling of the Stratos is better.
Im joking...  lol

You dont need to sell the benefits of a Mk2 to me!!!  Im just raging that we don't have a Millington in the game yet! :)

porky said to me the stratos is better now than the opel. i prefer the mk2 and fiat out of the lot for pure pleasure but for time overall i use the opel kadett as it rinses the others mainly by a few secs quite easily.

wish the fiat was the quickest as its just a really good car and fun.
