The Dirt weekly thread

Finland, 2010's weekly... I picked the Hyundai. I knew there was no way that I'd be able to challenge gheeD, but a podium seemed possible. I kept it clean, focused solely on good lines through each stage. I still managed to get a puncture on SS5 though, but I only lost 10 seconds or so. gheeD also suffered a puncture on this stage. Second overall at the moment. I'm happy with that!

Done the new weekly already cause it's my favorite Group A :)
I've picked the Lancia and had a great event without big problems (ommiting the game crash at 4th stage start and having to rego 3rd - which ended up with better time than at 1st attempt).

Current position: 3rd.
I have a feeling that will be my best position in online events so far.

I have done my 80's weekly, but the game did not like the times I set on SS3 and 4, so it put me in 736th place overall at the moment. Hoping my times will be reinstated before the weekend, should put me in the lead.

Happy with the driving, and I only had one spin (SS5) - this must be some kind of a record in a Sweden weekly!

Sweden: took the BMW. In the first stage overshot the square right, where you have to brake before the house and also had a bit of a run in with a tree in one tighter corner :D Next two stages were relatively clean, then in stage 4 had some crashes (maybe one reset, don't remember), but that was the worst stage. Then the last two were ok again. Once you get in to a rythm, the BMW is really nice to drive, but you can also just as easily lose that rythm :D All in all, could've been better, but was ok

Greece: Took the Lancia (I feel like it's in the middle, not too soft like the Impreza, not too hard like the Escort). After the BMW on snow and ice, the Delta was a pleasure to drive. Didn't really have much problems. Overshot one hairpin a bit, but didn't lose much there. Then in the last stage, the very last turn, where the co-driver says "keep right" I didn't. Went off, but luckily it wasn't a sheer drop and I wasn't that far to the left, so got back on the track without really slowing down. Took out a tire in the process, but there were like 100m left, so no harm done

Seems Codies were unable to reinstate my 80's weekly stage times. Shame, as I had almost half a minute lead after SS3.
wonderd where you had gone, thought you went for coffee break or something
No, I triggered anticheat on SS3 and 4 and had my times quarantined. Darren was able to restore my SS3 time, but the SS4 time couldn't seem to be salvaged for some reason... and I had even backed off slightly to prevent this - my lead allowed it.

Oh well, at least they'll set better anticheat times in Sweden soon, and it won't be this broken for much longer. I know they're working hard on this.

Do a few runs with the full Telemetry tool Porky, it'll really help @Hatward & the guys set parameters for fine tuning the anti-cheat system.  I had suggested @gheeD do the same with his Kontinjarvi WR, but haven't seen him since, which is odd...

You know Codemasters can view the replays themselves, right?

Am I to assume from this that the Devs set the "bogey" times for the Sweden stages too low? Because its easy to beat AI in practice by up to a minute  once a good setup has been found  with certain cars. I guess the guys they had testing the stages before release were struggling with them and not setting particularly decent times?
Something along those lines, yes. I seem to manage to do this in every car class thus far. :D

I would be astonished if they could.

Well not replays per say, but I know they can view ghostcar or ghostlap data; it's been mentioned before.
Yeah, that'd be more likely, but even to upload all that they'd need to remodel your run in-house, would be pretty vast too.  If they get anything, it'd be basics.  Elapsed Time, Max velocity, average speed.

Group A weekly done. Picked the Integrale. Setups appear to be disabled now, so I had to go with default setup. Drove a clean SS1 to see what kind of pace I had. Won the stage. Kept the pace up until SS5, where I wanted to push a little... and spun. Back to my clean pace and clawed some of the time back on SS6. Leading at the moment.

I have a feeling the spin will cost me though...

just could not get the Escort Cossie to behave, whats the point of doing the grind, earning credits, getting upgrades and applying my knowledge of setting up rallycar geometry if I can't use it?
For future reference, do not pick the Group A Escort if you want to be competitive. It is the absolute worst of the bunch, regardless of upgrades and setup.

W1: I like the Mitsubishi in Monte-Carlo. No big mistakes, just some snakey lines on SS3 and a big hit on SS6. However, as I don't know how to do a proper setup, I always have to go with the default option in weekly events. So no chance to compete with the top guys.
W2: abandoned on stage 2..

2000's weekly... done. Horrible, horrible driving. Well not horrible as in lots of crashing, it's just that I am so incredibly slow in these cars - with the 2001 Subaru even more so. However, I picked it because a friend said I wouldn't make top 5 with it. I'm second overall with some help from lady luck. I suspect that will change before the week is over, but done is done.

2000's weekly in Germany... done.

SS1: Nice.
SS2: Alright.
SS3: Clumsy.
SS4: Nice.
SS5: Half-spin, losing nearly 3 seconds.
SS6: Clean run to finish.

The spin definitely costed me the lead. 4th overall at the moment, amazingly tight between the toprunners.

Did both weelys in one go with the same car - Impreza. When I started with Germany, it had 2/5 upgrades. Germany was mostly clean runs, with a little bump into a rock in the last stage, but that didn't cost much time. Even with just 2/5 upgrades, managed bottom of top tier.
After germany had 3/5 upgrades and went for the other weekly. No real drama there either. Had a bit better results here, because of the upgrade and ended up mdiway of top tier. After the second weekly the Impreza had 5/5 upgrades, so now all of the 2000s class is fully upgraded :)

Started off with the Germany weekly, taking the Impreza. As I haven't owned any of the 2000s yet ( :() it came down to personal preference.
So with a completely stock car (got advanced setup somewhere through the event, but no performance upgrade) I'll probably end up upper mid-tier...given that I lost about 4 seconds per split to my 6-month-old, gamepad-using personal bests, I reckon that I would've been about 2 minutes faster overall with a fully upgraded car. That would've put me near the top100 instead of 800-something. Meh.  :|
Let's see how the second event works out, it should at least give me the first two performance upgrades. And make the Impreza feel a little less slow.
