The Dirt weekly thread

Group B Rwd: If only I could get through Monte alive, the 037 would be so much fun to drive in Wales and Germany. On the second stage I hit the inside in a corner where I've never done it before and was catapulted over the cliffside. Game over.

R4 weekly went a lot better. :)
No chance to keep pace with @gheeD , but was comfortably among the top of the six or so drivers "chasing" after.
Spun on Bidno Moorland and lost at least six seconds just to right the car again (counted on the replay). Devestated when I finished and saw that I was just five seconds something behind. That could have been my first stage win (read: "stage lead", as I'm sure it wouldn't stand the test of some of those that have yet to run).
Drove well enough on the final two stages to gain a couple of places and I'm currently 4th. :D

R4 weekly done. Went with the safe approach, because Subaru suspension. Touch the side of the road and you fly away, very far indeed. So basically very clean driving, I'm very happy to have made it through undamaged, and with a third place too - only 16 seconds behind. My only mishap was on SS6 when the engine cut out in a third gear corner. I didn't let it bother me too much.

I also just did the R4 weekly. Drove the Evo. Also the first track felt very slimy (it was raining) Apart from a stupid mistake in stage 2, where I lost about 15 seconds, it went ok

Did the Group B RWD weekly early on. Took the Manta. Kinda horrible on ice and snow, ok on asphalt and great on dirt and gravel :)

What's the deal with the R4 Mitsubishi, I bought the car for this weekly and I like it except for the way it jumps so quickly through the gears and often leaves me in the wrong gear. I'm using auto at the moment until I get my wheel set up, anyone got any tips or tweaks that make it a little more on point gear wise. Or is it just how it is?

Group B RWD weekly, done. By far the most intense weekly I've done for quite some time; the 037 is a true handful.

Monaco x 2: No mistakes, mostly clean driving. Small push on SS2 to grab the lead.

Wales x 2: Geufron was very slow, a 6 minute run, but I reckon I'm just slow at adjusting from snow and ice to gravel.
Bronfelen would have been very quick, but a spin midway through where I had to reverse out put an end to that. Still won the stage by 13 seconds?!

Germany x 2: By far the easiest of them all. Keeping the car on the road was all that was required of me to maintain a comfortable lead.

Happy with my driving, even though it wasn't always superquick.

That's just how it works. R4's have a bad case of premature upshifting. Either use manual or semi-auto gears, so you can shift down, when needed

Group A weekly, Germany... done. There were no Escorts in the top 10, so that's what I picked. It's very nice to drive on tarmac. However, knowing that there'd be no chance of winning without enormous risks, I simply cruised through; driving neat and tidy. I was rewarded with 8th overall.

2000's weekly, Finland... done. I picked the C4 because normally I would never do that. Mistakes on SS1, 2, and 4 made me doubt I'd even get on the podium, but two nice runs on 5 and 6 let me take the lead. Nice!

Tried the Group A weekly with the Lancia. Started well in Germany and could even climb on position 4 after Kontinjärvi stage, only lost 4secs on this particular stage. But then, I headed too confidently into Kakaristo and game over hehe.

80s: That Renault really doesn't like slow corners, though it's even worse on tarmac. Never got the hang of getting it around hairpins. Currently 40th.
GrA: Crashed on stage 1. Crashed even harder on stage 4 and lost a wheel (and well over a minute). With a severly damaged car I regained some places through Sweden. Currently 73rd.

Well, the 2010s weekly on Monte, took this as an occasion to improve the setup for the Polo. That succeeded, though I messed up Route de Tourini and the last stage by quite a bit. Still leading by over a minute at this point in time. Expecting to be beaten by over a minute by Porky or similarly fast people in Monte xD

So that's why I got the fastest time on the last stage! \o/
Figured you must have either cruised or crashed.

I crashed on stage 3 and lost a good 20 seconds getting down off the bank and facing the right direction. (Nearly flipped over, and out, so not complaining). Then the car rattled along for the rest of stage 3 and 4. Currently 5th, but that's not saying much on a Tuesday morning.

First two stages of 2010's weekly are done in my Fiesta. Something clicked on the ice and have broken the top 50. 45th after two stages, but only 3 seconds off the fastest time on stage 2...which makes me pretty tootin' proud of myself. A giant leap forward from last week's DNF and 186th after the Group A in Germany two weeks ago...

Group B RWD weekly - picked the Manta and used Porkhammers setup :) Did a few test runs before and the 037 is just too unstable on ice, the Manta had a nice and heavy steering and it felt more controllable. Had a few spin-outs in the later stages, but nothing serious. Currently 89th out of 892

2010s weekly: picked the Polo. Had some spinouts and in one hairpin flew off, but lucky for me, that wasn't a kill-zone. Still, that got me a 15 sec penalty. I usually don't do too well with the 2010 class and this was no exception  180th out of 947

2010 cars on my all time favourite Dirt Rally track in Monte-Carlo. Didn't expect to be able to hold the pace of the top guys and ending up on the podium as second, which is great. Especially, both long runs in the event went particularly well. The last two stages went soso, but probably no one went through this weekly without any dirving errors. However, the guy on the first place seems to be somewhat of a surprise to me, as I haven't seen him on the leaderboards so far. Also, I did see him rerun the stages over the week. But hey, second place is a great achievement for me. So no reason to complain =)

What drama on the last two stages of Monte Carlo with the 2010s. After the fifth stage, I had worked my way up to 19th. That the first time I've broken the top 20 (on PS4). Then I had two spins on the night stage and finished a disappointing 23rd (Dice73AF). Encouraged that I'm getting faster, although I'm far more comfortable driving a modern WRC car then I am say the Group Bs, which I'm trying to learn how to drive so I can compete in the monthly...

Finland done with the Lancia. Massive errors on most of stages and a crash on the last stage. Only SS4 & SS5 went kind of well. Kotajärvi even seems to be one of the fastest times ever, but most probably not for long. Used the default setup and tweaked the gearbox a little bit.

Weekly 2 done. Didn't know what car I should take, I prefer the Subaru on gravel and the Mitsubishi on tarmac. Took the Mitsubishi then..

Greece:     Solid runs for me I guess, nothing spectacular and some mistakes as well - default setup.
Germany:  Frauenberg went really well (3rd fastest time ever so far), Ruschberg with some mistakes a bit less.
However, I could grab the temporary lead in Germany - default setup.
Finland:     Solid on Hämelathi and a horrible run on Pitkajärvi, altough being very lucky 3 times not to fully crash on SS6.
                - tried out Porkhammer setup, seems to be really nice, but I couldn't benefit due to bad driving, but thanks for it!

Overall, I am quiet happy. Since I switched to manual gearbox, I make quiet some progress in times, especially on gravel.
