The Dirt weekly thread

I did the historic weekly in Dirt 4 - Wales. I picked the Mk2.

SS1 and 2 were near flawless. Good rhythm, no hiccups. SS3 I forgot to pay attention to the notes, and straightlined a fast section of corners, flew over a pile of logs, and flipped into the forest. Managed to climb back up to the road. 20+ seconds lost. SS3 I tried to get my rhythm back, but I was sucked into a water puddle (!), thrown off the line, entered the next corner completely wrong, and was thrown into the forest. Climbed back onto the road. 15 seconds lost.

Amazingly, my team of engineers could repair the car to pristine condition (and even have time left over to wash it). Afterwards I could push through SS5 and SS6 with relative ease.

I enjoyed this, despite the massive timeloss.

Group B weekly, Spain - done. I picked the Metro.

It went well up until SS4, where I had a puncture. I then had a spin on SS6. It's not like I was gunning for victory or anything, but I'd really like those seconds back.

Also I noticed (imagine?) that the car feels sluggish and slidey at the beginning of each stage, but after a couple of km's it is super grippy and agile. @KickUp is tyre temperature implemented, or am I dreaming?

Weekly 2 done, R4's in Michigan. I picked my trusty Evo 10. Absolutely no risks, listened carefully to the notes, and avoided cutting. Third overall at the moment. Much better than expected. I recorded this as well.
The Subaru handled like a dream in Michigan. "THIS IS HOW FINLAND SHOULD FEEL LIKE!" I yelled again and again.

Love how you feel the weight coming over crests.

Didn't do very well though. Picked up a puncture mid stage.

Group B weekly done.

Had a really great pace in top 15 until 4th stage where everything was lost, including my rhythm.

Finished somewhere around ~150th after all.

The Delta S4 is a really tail happy car!

P.S. The WASD ability in replays is really nice, just look at this view.

Love the integrale in d4, was my first time using it. Had a good run on the group a weekly till the last stage, got a puncture in the first minute or so and repaired. Getting frustrated I had a couple more offs and lost over a minute and a half by the end of it.

Did my Grp A weekly.  Hard to push, as when you push, the car literally pushes.  Ends up going wide every time you try to get the power down mid corner or carry any speed!

I clipped a fence on the outside of a bend and punctured.  Took 30 second penalty but went off 4 times in the same stage trying to make up time

Man, the group a weekly felt great, aside from my whack driving skills. Tried the Escort for the first time in D4, car I really hated in dirt rally, and I had my best time till now in Dirt 4. Through some setup tweaks this little beast could snap his rear in a pretty mean way, and it felt responsive too, dunno if the game engine felt generous with me or the combination of muddy terrain and right setup did the job, but damn, it felt nearly like driving in dirt rally, without the absurd weight of the car and wrong aerodynamics... here some sideways action btw

I'm really not doing well in the weeklies compared to dirt rally. I can't seem to get through a full event without getting a puncture at least once. Hopefully can pick it up soon as I'm even missing the top tier occasionally.

Weekly 1, Group A in Australia - done. I picked the 1995 Subaru.

On the first stage I was a bit cautious, feeling the car out. Had some slipups as a result. Luckily it felt pretty good, I had it set up for oversteer, and it actually oversteered. A pleasant surprise. I kept forgetting that it had a 6th gear though. After that, the stages went smoothly-ish; not one was without a minor hiccup, but overall I had a good rhythm. Until SS5 when Jen decided it would be a good idea to call out a right 5 when it was a 3. I understeered through a fence and into the wilderness. I could climb up without much problems, but a good chunk of time was lost I reckon. SS6 was fun and I had my rhythm back in no time.

I do recommend the 1995 Scooby, folks. Set it up for oversteer and you won't be disappointed!

Will pick the Metro for the Group B weekly I think.

Weekly 2, Group B in Michigan - done. I did indeed pick the Metro.

Had a nice rhythm most of the time, with the odd brake too late moment... a couple of minor overshoots. A handful of misshifts. On SS5 I think I lost focus or something briefly as I found myself throwing the car very hard sideways into a tree. I thought I had lost a wheel for sure, or at the very least have a puncture... but nothing major happened. I had a rattling nosie for the remainder of the stage, and that's about it. After that I paid more attention to the notes. On SS6 I nearly lost it again though; it was almost as if the car bottomed out on the right hand side (where I hit the tree), and I lost control for a split second. I regained it and managed to finish without further incidents.

While I didn't place well in any of the weeklies, I must say that blasting through Michigan with the Quattro E2 was fantastic. That combo is the one that's felt best so far in Dirt 4.

What are Australian fence posts made of, anyway? Some kind of car kryptonite covered in spider web? Brush it with the side of the car and it jerks the car to a standstill no matter the speed, but if you slowly come at it with the front it folds easily. :-/

Apart from that, and the phone calling on stage 2, it was an enjoyable weekly. Group A is fun.

So I've just done the GrpA Weekly in Michigan, and although I thoroughly enjoyed driving the Impreza, I did not enjoy the late calls for tight turns, as well as the incorrect calls for certain turns.

Word of warning for those who want to push: Beware of the forest sections; co-driver will call turn 5's, when in fact more than a few of them should be turn 3's (narrow).

Fortunately, I could react quick enough for most incorrect calls, but a few did take me off track, with 1 turning my car onto its roof.

I'll be happy/surprised if I remain in the top 50.

Group A weekly, Michigan - done. I checked the classifieds section prior to even considering the second weekly this early on, and then I spotted it - the Group A Escort Cosworth, in its proper livery. 103k credits. I'll take that, thank you. Tried it in freeplay after making a quick setup, and it felt amazing. I went straight for the weekly after that. No mistakes, near spotless driving. Position unknown, but I am superhappy with my driving and the Escort's performance, regardless of outcome. By far the best handling 4WD I've driven yet in D4.

Should have geared it a little bit higher though...
