Is this the Germany Location for Dirt Rally ?

Haha! For some reason it made me think of the time Delecour shouted at his co-driver (was it Grataloup still with him after that horrible accident in Australia?) in Rally GB. He was driving a Mitsubishi, it was the early 2000's... ah, found it:

That's how I imagine Argirou shouting. Makes perfect sense.

Hahahahaha

Too wide, I'm afraid It must be something else. :)

Maybe if you saw SLRE and WRC 5, you would make up your mind how more arcadish these two are than CMR04 which is a 2003 game with basic physics and graphics.

You are aware of that I quoted someone earlier right? :)

What's with some people complaining about a wider width of the stage? It feels like they want all stages to have their roads as wide as the car itself, which is not always the case in real life.
I complained that a lot about DiRT 2 and DiRT 3, as well as the fact that you could just floor the throttle on a lot of the stages.
This time around we're getting a much better set of tracks, especially with respect to having camber issues on them, so having some be a bit wider won't be the issue it was in the previous versions.
I would say a bit of a relief in some ways (crash), just changes it up a little.

Lord help him if he ever goes to a real rally school!  Same complaints?

Student: "these roads are too wide and the car handles like crap, its not real, whaaaa"

Instructor: "I have an idea, that I can help, pull off here in the forest and let me drive."

Student: "ok"

Instructor: "Just wait here so I can show you from outside the car"

Student: "ok"

Instructor drives off to get dinner

Excesive grip. One problem there since the beginning of the game...

Not sure but I noticed the guy's insistence on the stages width in a hilarious manner. lol

How do you know, were you driving the car? Why is there too much grip? Just because it's raining and it's a rwd car, it doesn't mean it should be sliding around everywhere like RBR.

"Yes clearly there is way too much grip, and yea I'm using a wheel... Also strongly agree the car slows down way too fast both if your braking and if you lift ... for what reason i don't know... just like you said as if some brake is being applied .... yes the weight should go on the front wheels if you lift but that shouldn't in itself slow the car....

I am using a wheel ... funny thing is I have actually played RBR with a logitech ps3 style controller years back and it was almost impossible to play at first but after a short stint of crashes I was able to get the car through some stages, albeit more cautiously." [User: WedgeX, Thread: Does the game have too much grip?]

The sim have too much grip...so simple is that...
This here is not Grid (Arcade), this is a sim.

Baumholder:

And the grip here is stronger like Pikes Peak. The Street is too old and with Concrete-Plates in some Locations...
Is that possible in Dirt Rally ?

Wait until you actually play it before making a judgement on an video of an early version of the game.

And just because you played Richard burns rally, it does not make you an expert. Modern Tarmac tyres, whether wet or dry, have incredible levels of grip, I was watching escorts on a Tarmac rally the other week, and the way they held onto the road was incredible

The road width is accurate to its real world location.

And what's wrong with the physics? RWD cars don't constantly slide around in the wet in the real world. Trust me i've been on plenty of boring rallies with many many escorts to vouch for that.
Have you even drove a real RWD rally car ? Or you are just guessing how it rides?  Fanboys, fanboys everywhere... :) "Yeaa trust me because i watched some old men driving in escort... I didn't ride real rally car but trust I'm proffesional rally filmmaker I'know everything about car physic ..." I'm so tired of fanboys and experts in rally driving, who don't even drove a rally.. tfuu even a car.. it's making me laugh :) I recommend you to watch some videos like those: escort, bmw, rwd.

RallyDriven: The rally tyres in those years have lot of grip (and the racing slick even more, witchout car with min. 150km, just don't touch it :) ) but in dirt rally it's just a little too much of it, i dont want to make it like ice, just needs to be brought down a tad imo. The back end is almost totally planted and overall it could be a little looser. But the grip isn't the only problem, another is very bad modeling of tire spin.

Fanboy of what? Of realistic physic?
I didn't know that filmmaker could know more about physic than a rally driver.

We're talking about Dirt Rally physic and not about us and i don't want to argue with you, so just stop this.
If you have something to say about physic, lets talk.

Rallycameraman...this is not a Grid game
THE GAME HAS TOO MUCH GRIP !!!
How f******g difficult is that do unterstand ???
And The Sierra RS500 has no power...nothing...
But the biggest problem is the Grip and the Physics.
And you have no idea from Physics...if you say what is wrong with the grip
NO IDEA !!!!

@PiotrAS191 and @Arguriou  stop arguing things who knows the best what is grip, this is not related to the topic nor it will solve any problems in your eyes.
I think your guys point about the grip/physics is clear now. So behave your self and be gentle and move over it.

Now I will give my vision of it, this is the point of a rallydrivers view,
- First of all dont ever judge about some footage that you saw without trying it yourself.
- Second do you know how many factors will cause more or less grip?

Just a small indication for you guys ,...
* The type of tire, ( Slick inter wet or for ice)
* The compound of the tire , ( super soft, soft, medium, hard)
* The temperature of the tire, temperature outside
* Age of the rubber

* The settings of the car,
* underground where you are driving, ( incase of tarmac, you got like plenty diffrent kind of tarmac what all got better or less grip. some small rubber from a drift infront of you or some dirt , water or ice will change it directly)

And then I am not talking about how long you are driving and how the tires are used or camber caster usage.

What I try to say is there are so many factors what makes u have more or less grip that you just cannot Judge if the grip is good or bad. specially because of the conditions

Codemasters did an amazing job to simulate everything, and its the best sim rallygame ever made. so have a little bit more respect for the guys over there instead of shouting and flaming at everyone.

Its an early acces and I know that they are still working on some tire related things so they will give an other look at some part of the grip.

But for now the grip is perfectly done in the game and quiet close to the real world!

I second ThierryNeuville's answer! I started my rallying career earlier this winter and have had the chance to drive both front, rear and four wheel drive rally cars, now competing in a front wheel drive Nissan Almera. Yes, I can agree that I find the grip too high on most surfaces (Monte Carlo most of all), and that the brakes and engine brake generally are too strong - BUT this being an early access game  means that there is supposed to be room for improvement in the coming time. Also, Codemasters have never stated that DiRT Rally is to be a full-on rally simulator, but to give an authentic experience of the sport - that is two different things. Codies obviously want the game to be something that both the experienced and in-experienced can enjoy, therefore they have to land somewhere in the middle between a full-blood sim and pure arcade. For me this is closer to a sim than arcade at least, and I use it actively for exercising towards rally driving in real life.

Bear in mind, the game has been out around two months, so give the devs some slack to make this game the best rally game we've seen for a long time!

What you explained about grip was very interesting and it definitely show you know what your talking about :). But... I believe in a way or another we're all exaggerating in critics, both positive and negative.

There's no question Dirt Rally will be the best rally game in a decade, but just because no one really attempted in breaking this record. Now, speaking of "simulation". To say that the DR engine is simulating everything is simply an overstatement. The physic engine is simplified and works as an action-reaction model (like the last games in the F1 series, for instance) other than a real simulated complex environment (i.e. like iRacing, rFactor and Assetto Corsa). This was said to me from a dev working in this field.

Is this a bad thing? No necessarily. RBR was an hardcore sim, but in tarmac was very well known to be terrible. DR on the other hand seems to be on the other side of the spectrum: a simpler physic model much more playable, still maintaining the characteristics of a sim. In the meantime I hope they keep working on it trying to make the best of it masking all the flaws of this limited engine :).

You say:

Let us make a poll...

In the Monte Carlo als Example...Not me but every they say it is too much grip
You cannot drive 150km/h and the car is like feels like a train in the road...you cannot use full brake and the car stopt like nothing happend
You must see this and accept that this now the things.
The game has simple too much grip
And this theory about tyres and temps you can say it in the pop-corn players but not too me.

The Dirt Rally is a sim. And after the last update (FFB) is in the direction to be the right sim. (Physics and grip must improvement).
But in the video the car behavior is to arcade !!! A R C A D E !!!!
And the Road is to wide !!!
