Proper gameplay finally out

Recommended Posts

That's a really good point actually Berad88, I wonder if the championship just ends as if it's a game over, or whether it impacts your team's R&D?

Can I also just point out how ridiculous it is that we still haven't got anything decent, regarding gameplay material, from Codemasters themselves?

I like the hand gesticulating out of the cockpit.
Exactly the same animation they've had since 2013 though, is it not...?
Ah, to be honest, I've been so busy with other things that the last one I bought was 2012 and I still play that on my PC now and again. I've just got an Xbox One and Madcatz wheel and pre ordered F1 2015 so that's why it seems new to me! Either way, I like it!

Nice... I'm kind of envious in a way, as with the new kit and having skipped a couple of games (one good, one bad) you'll probably get more out of 2015 than a lot of us old cynics will :)

I'm not sure if this has been pointed out elsewhere (Prolly has) but it appears we will finally be able to change drivers in replays

Yeah it was a combination of ill health, work and being a bit disillusioned by F1 that I kind of stopped. But then when I got my Xbox One and Forza 5/Horizon 2 I fancied a new wheel and then thought I'd get back into the F1 games, even though this year has been naff so far in my opinion. The whole fuel saving, penalties for changing stuff, Mercedes dominance has bored me. I first got into F1 the year Ayrton died and Damon Hill came on the scene. The following seasons of Hill/Schumacher I thoroughly enjoyed. These days it seems like a load of technical twaddle. Plus, I liked the days of refueling when no-one knew quite how much was in the tank at the start and who'd come out on top. Nowadays it's just like a maths lesson.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I think it had been previously confirmed on Twitter by @justbiglee, but nice to see it's definitely made it into the game.

If only they would just hook it up with a "Driver X has retired from the race" message when you're playing offline, so you could quickly replay what happened to them like you could in the old Geoff Crammond days...

Yeah, I trust Darin's opinion here and also agree this is not an arcade title at all contrary to what a lot of the grumblers here say. Lack of career mode and even my personal nitpicks aside, I think this is going to be a great new start to the series as they finally move into next gen.

I don't know... i would have to disagree coming from a person like Daring who thinks Rubens Barrichello was still in Formula 1 despite him retired. And calling F1 2014 a full sim kinda breaks his credibility in what he says about these Codemasters games.

Seems very promising considering Darin has extensive experience in the racing genre.
Especially when he said this:

“I'm really looking forward to this next generation version of (the) Formula One Franchise by Codemasters and feel they are inching closer and closer to hardcore sim territory”.

“Anyone that calls this an arcade racer, really needs to check themselves”.
“This is not an arcade racer - as a matter of fact on console between this and Project CARS, they're as close to a sim as you can get”.

Thats the best gameplay ive seen so far but to me It still doesnt look like enough has changed for me to want it. Only reason I post is before you get to exited about Darin saying this is more sim than forza and GT check all the other F1 reviews by ISR (although the ones with shaun might be gone) each one they have said that for the reasons he stated! You can do full races, tyre and fuel, pit stops, Ive said it myself on here many times but was not talking about the driving physics. Im not saying F1 wont have more sim like physics just saying he isnt talking about that when he says it.

Agreed, but that's why I have such an issue with Forza and always have. It's a virtual car showroom; nothing more. There's no real aspect of 'racing' in a Forza game. No pit stops, tire and fuel don't actually matter, and no racing regulations. It even has the word "Motorsport" in the name yet has nothing about Motorsport in it. Hence why I'll always prefer F1 games over a Forza game any day.

Exactly mate thats what always drove me to the F1 games. My love for the sport but mainly because games like Forza and GT dont intrest me much as doing 3 lap races is pointless imo. I like to settle down in a race and play out strategy abit and the F1 games were the only games that offer that on console. I might be down on this years game with most posts but thats only because the features arent there and it looks like every other game, still prob be fun for ppl who didnt play the others to death each year :) Think thats what makes me love Pcars so much, It is a racing game (like f1) where as games like Forza and GT are driving games imo.

yeah Darin's pretty good in terms of his analysis on things. He may lack some familiarity with tracks but he knows how cars are meant to feel when you race them for sure his analysis of Grid Autosport and P cars were pretty good too.

Not sure where to put it but you can now search F1 2015 in the Xbox Live Catalog and it will show up. Few days ago it said 'Unavailable' and now it's changed to 'Bundle Only' but it's still not available for pre-order.

The strange thing is that there are 644 ratings so far (4.5/5 stars) and as far as I'm aware a game can only be rated after you own it? So 600+ people already have early access? I guess you can make allowance for 40-60 develops giving it a go and testing it on a retail system but 600?

They've said Manor will be added in a patch, their participation this season was decided too late to get all their assets into earlier builds.
