The Great Gaming Rig Thread

DiRT Rally was a proof of concept, made on a shoe string budget and limited staff to convince the big wigs that a realistic rally game would sell, and sell well!

It's probably safe to assume that the next one will have the same realistic feel (hopefully more refined tarmac handling) but much more content and a more complete package - with hopefully a fully fleshed out RX championship on top.

The fact that it is so quiet suggests they are hard at work, and we will just have to trust they deliver everything we want :)

That seat is going back into a real car again!  Sold it to a guy who does Targa Rally's
Nooo dont sell it

Ha ha, no that's mine and definitely not getting sold. I think KevM was talking about his great find.

Just getting mine ready for ps4pro, Psvr and drive club at Xmas
Heard the PSVR drive club was pretty crap. Also heard the PSVR loses tracking and jerks your head if your hands cross your face.

Hi,

Been playing Drive Club on the PSVR now for a couple of weeks and absolutely love it, going back to a flat screen just feels wrong now. Sure there is room for improvement on the graphics but to be honest once your playing it isn't as noticeable.

I would actually never have bought Drive Club if it wasn't for the VR, So glad I did as its great fun and a real eye opener as to what the future holds for racing games on consoles. Fingers crossed for Dirt Rally PSVR.

As for the tracking I have had zero problems, the camera is mounted on the wall a bit higher than the tv.

I needed something that can quickly and easily stow away but also had a problem of no where to store a full blown racing rig.  So I too have made my own solution using some simple tubing and tube fixings.  I can honestly set-up or stow the wheel and gear stick away in under 30s....

The wheel and stick base plate slides and rotates on the center tube.  When wanting to use my PC desk it stows neatly out of the way underneath the desk.  Whilst racing it's rock steady.  I've not seen anything else like it available on the market!

OH MY GOD, what I've just seen is incredible and me wananting dat ting!! Only problem it doesn't seem to work with wheels and the price :P
After watching that quite incredible simulator video, this video titled "Best Gaming Tech 2016 - 5 awesome motion sims every gamer wants" was offered. So I watched that too.

https://youtu.be/V9s75MtnUxA

The fourth simulator in that video is the "CXC Motion Pro II". Apparently built for Red Bull to simulate an FIA World RX car, including using real parts such as the pedals and gear shift. At about 3:20 they say they have "PROPRIETARY TECHNOLOGY - The latest and most advanced simulation"... But I swear the content on screen is actually DiRT Rally. Am I going nuts?

Or did they, by chance, show only the locations from their PROPRIETARY TECHNOLOGY that were also included in the DiRT Rally Rallycross content?

Out of all of those, I think I'd personally go for the Fasetech Racing cube, or the first one. The others are huge, bulky, don't have full rotation, and most importantly, don't seem to get as many small bumps. Maybe the big ones will do large jumps better, but that little one did the braking and clutch kicking pretty damn well, and pretty damn quick.
That MMone looks nuts though. Can't imagine it'd be too hard to strap a wheel to it, but it would be fun for flight sims. Had no idea trackmania allowed motion rigs.

Anyway here is the chair i made a few months back. I do a lot of custom props for tv commercials and stuff. Theres always a lot of cool stuff just sitting around, and i always wanted a 50's era fighter jet seat.
No wheel or VR yet lol just a PS4 and a 40" tv.

I kinda went off topic in Gossip Thread so I will ask questions related to my project here.

I'm going to create a rig based on Ricmotech's plans but without them.

If someone have one/done it before maybe you can answer these few questions:

First one:
  1. Any catches while assembling?
  2. Anything you regret you didn't do while mounting it?
  3. Anything that's missing from the final form?

Edit:
Holy moly, it's a DIY
