F1 Codemaster realease Old F1 Season?

Recommended Posts

I am passionate about old seasons of F1.

I wonder why the Codemaster not realize entire seasons of F1 1991 1992 1993 1994 1995, with all the circuits, drivers, cars and then sell packages of the season to 20 dollars / euro.

With today's technology the quality of the product would be exceptional.

Might attract thousands of fans old style and offer a good product.

It is in your future plans?

Sorry for my english

thanks

That would be a lot of stuff they would need to get licenses for.  Not impossible but don't get your hopes up.

They hardly can deliver an exceptional product with the current license, so I doubt that.

Besides what's the plan? Codemasters develop the next season's game and at the same time a classic season game?
Apart from the licensing issues they simply don't have the manpower to pull this off.

Licenses for older cars & drivers would be very expensive afaik.
I'd love to have tracks from previous seasons, though. Afaik licensing tracks is cheaper than licensing cars & drivers, including tracks from previous CM F1 games should be easy since CM already has data for those tracks.

I can't see this happening either tbh. A few classic cars and a few classic tracks I think is realistically the best CM I think will be able to do basically like what we saw in the classic edition of 2013. If this were someone like EA then yes there's a chance as they do have the resources for such a task but unfortunately CM don't. Personally I think once 2015 is out the door the priority will hopefully be restore some sort of career mode for 2016 and provide better support for their game

There are plenty of modding teams out there who would be passionate about making older seasons if they would be included in an official Codemasters game. So resources are not nessisarily an issue. I mean teams like MakCorp and FSone are producing models that exceed what Codemasters are doing with F1 2015.

Mostly it's a question of licensing. With various rights-holders to negotiate with.

Personally I would love to see full historic seasons happen, but it's probably just wishfull thinking. This year F1 2015 is basically a total reboot for the series, with CM restarting the game from scratch, which is probably why they only focussed on core game features. Hopefully next year we'll see it expanded, the career mode restored, and who knows, maybe classic content or something like GP3 / GP2 included (which would be far easier with those series being run on the same tracks and only having 1 license holder).
