Lewis Hamilton lost my respect today

Recommended Posts

I was a Lewis Hamilton fan before today's race. After watching him deliberately force Albon off the track because he didn't want to be passed, I have lost respect for the man. It was as clear as water is wet. Albon was about to overtake Lewis in an amazing around the outside move and Lewis turned into all those drivers online that we despise.

The guy is incredibly talented but yes, he's known for getting his elbows out and shoving people off the track.

I wouldn't go that far. It was an error, absolutely, but to say it was intentional is not a slam dunk argument. He didn't turn into Albon and the on board for Lewis shows that he was trying to avoid the contact, but I don't think he was expecting Albon on the outside there.

I don't know man. I just touched some water and it felt wet to me lol. Hamilton defended the inside, when you do that it's because the car behind is up your tail. What I and alot witnessed was Hamilton purposely not giving room. I think he intended to push Albon off the track slightly to remain in P2 but Albon was essentially ahead of him and instead this caused the wheels to come together. He had room to give and he chose not to. Albon could have won that race and Lewis knew it so he went dirty to protect the team.

I agree that Hamilton punted Alexander on purpose.  BUT  I don't think he was helping the team, (this is no "I" in team but there's an "M" and an "E".)  Remember Mexico, when he disobeyed orders and backed Rosberg into traffic.  Hamilton ignored his race engineer to slow down to save the car, and it resulted in James Alison getting on the radio.  Had he thought Albon would catch and pass Bottas it would have been in his interest points wise to let him by.  It would have reduced the split to 6 points from 13.  Just my view.  If Albon gets inside Hamilton in the future in a corner, wait for the whining If Albon defends the racing line.  Then again somebody once said "rubbin's racin" so maybe this is all a tempest in a tea pot.  Schumacher was a dirty driver too.  He had no problems running people off the road and has had championship points taken away once for questionable tactics.  Maybe we are being too hard on Lewis, I don't think so but maybe.

You can't be too hard on a grown man unless he's soft and fragile.

It’s racing, he never opened up his steering but he didn’t complete his turn either, he knew he was a sitting duck and used a well known racing tactic to stay ahead, ive seen it a million times. He got caught and penalized end of story. It was by no means Albon’s fault except that he was Impatient and forced the inevitable, and paid dearly. Valuable learning experience.

There is a great explanation of the incident here:

Basically - Used hard tyres v new softs, Hamilton was off the throttle and the car understeered, Albon was impatient and potentially should have won the race, there was room to pass on the outside.  Unfortunately it ruined Albons race...

He doesn't like to get overtaken, that we know. He's very talented but a dirty driver when his ego is about to take a hit. A bit of a drama queen as well on the radio with Bono. Complaining that he's not gonna win... needs a miracle..  and he still wins.
