there should be a way to have 0-none 1-medium 2- hot lap and a on/off switch for overtake on ERS as it’s annoying when using overtake it drains the battery straight away and can’t charge it up with (none) setting.

the AI are able to abuse the ERS without any issues charges quick and hardly depletes tracks like hanoi and Baku they can just out pace you on straights and there ERS just seems quicker. i don’t know just an idea i liked the old way but do like the new overtake button i think it would work better the way i’ve said🤷‍♂️opinions on it and what you think of the AI with ERS and straights?

If Norris said that old way is not realistic, I prefer new way. Especially because it was noticeable when watching Hamilton in any of previous 2-3 years. When somehow there is non-merc car in front that races for position. He catches it, sits there for 2-3 laps, then attacks in 1 lap (using overtake in some parts of track not whole lap). If it doesn't pass he again waits 1-2 laps. That was ERS depleting fast and giving advantage when used. 👍

As for AI, did you compare yourself with your teammate or other cars? It could/should be that different teams have different ERS, so for some it discharges slower. I haven't noticed any difference with teammate for example.

no i get that and i like the fact it’s more realistic, but it’s tracks like hanoi and baku that the ai can use it on the straights then can use it again the next lap without it charging where as when i do it my battery depletes so when i get it recharged that 2-3 i made up ive lost. team mate depletes slower then mine went from 82% - 65% on the back straight of Hanoi where mine goes to like 20-30%

all i’m saying is you should be able to use hot lap and none while in any session not just limited to some modes depending on session

How did you come to the conclusion that the AI can use hotlap and none during the race?

never once stated that they can? i’m saying we should be able to use none to hot lap in any session and keep overtake to the button

Correct, I misinterpreted your OP

"the AI are able to abuse the ERS without any issues charges quick and hardly depletes"

But what makes you think that they can abuse ERS? As far ad I have seen, ERS works the same for them as for us. It depletes just as fast and they can harvest it just as fast from what I have seen.

Besides that, it would give us the same problem as in F1 2019. People would go into None before corner entry and into Hot lap on exit. It would be the same system as in 2019 only is Overtake not mode 4 but mode 3 with it's own button.

Yeah, but in My Team you can upgrade your car to make the ERS better. So I guess you will feel the difference over time as your car gets better than that of your rivals.

At least I would like to have an option in the race to turn the deployment down completely to charge it more efficently.
